hi
me and mrs both have chromebooks, both keep signal fine. our lads come to stay with us, also has a chromebook and this is the first time hes connected to our wifi. its connected fine, but then every few seconds it just drops, rescans, finds itself again and is then connected for a few more seconds, then repeat.
when it has a signal its decent (3 out of 4 bars) so its not as tho its borderline connection.
any idea why this should be happening and what will solve it?
thanks
My phone does this sometimes.
Usually when something with a better wifi aerial is in use (laptop or mrs gd's phone for example).
Tonight home alone and just the phone on the Internet and it has been faultless.
My phone also seems more susceptible to the microwave, Bluetooth speaker etc
not sure what the solution is to that. are you saying then that it may work better if me and mrs switch ours off?
thanks
Worth a go to trace the problem but it doesn't cure it and I'm only making an educated guess as to the actual cause. I find the problem is intermittent too.
hmmmm......it seems you may be right!! knocked the two other chromebooks off and it seems fine. tried switching them back one after the other and as soon as one is up and running and surfing again, it starts dropping.
also tried another experiment by using my phone as a portable hotspot and connecting lads chromebook to that. excellent signal, no dropping. back to home wifi and starts dropping again.
thanks for the heads up, but not sure if theres anything i can do to remedy it.
any techy experts out there?
thanks
can you allocate IP addresses?
I reckon sometimes one of my chromebooks gets upset like you describe, and I was wondering if it was an IP conflict?
dont really understand that mate, sorry. everything in settings tho seems to be set to 'auto', auto-configure, automatically connect to network etc etc.
ive been recommended to update chromebook firmware (its updated and still the same) and go to the building with the router (next to our house) and sit in front of it, see if thats any different (it isnt. full signal but still dropping every few seconds)
next thing i was recommended was to try was my tp-link wifi extender/repeater thing but i havent a clue how to work it or what its sposed to bring to the party.
any other ideas?
Is your Wifi open or wep / wpa? If one, try the other
