Nearly 3 years ago I installed (what went on to become) Chrome OS Flex on my 2007 iMac as it had been dormant in its box for years and idle hands and all that.
Before installation I didn't want to swap out the iMac HDD as it was more of a faf than I wanted.
I'd installed the same OS on 2006 white (4.2?) MacBook a few months earlier but did install an SSD in that first.
Hindsight and all that I wish I had installed a SSD in the iMac.
I cannot see its possible to move Chrome OS Flex now to and external SSD and have it boot from that (on the iMac) but I'm sure I must be missing something.
Any pointers or suggestions?
Sidebar note all the hardware in the Macbook works as expected even its wretched fan (grrr) but I have to use a wireless dongle on the iMac or hardwire (not currently possible due to location).
