I've been on Chrome sine a very early release, when it took over from Firefox as my browser of choice. However, it seems to be getting increasingly slow and memory hungry. I've just been looking at Windows Task Manager and there are 11 Chrome processes running, the largest using over 1GB of memory. Even shutting Chrome down leaves 4 or 5 processes still running!

I've been playing with IE9 for a bit and I'm actually starting to prefer it. Running Google Toolbar also seems to give really good integration with the Google cloud apps.

I'm now debating restoring Chrome to an earlier version (I'm running 18.0.1025.151) to see if it is any quicker or less resource hungry.

Not noticed any problems with the latest versions of chrome myself. Still running as fast as ever for me.

Every new tab and plugin utilises a process. Try running fewer tabs and/or plugins?

i'm just sick of it being slow and it keeps asking if I want to kill or wait for a page to load. other than that I love it still and wouldn't go back to IE or FF. I tried opera but for some reason it wouldn't render STW properly. might give it another go.

Yes, it has become decidedly slower for me as well.

It doesn't seem to get on well with Adobe Flash Player either. I disabled it and it went a bit quicker, but my children are now greeting because they can't go on Stardoll or Club Penguin.

Didn't like Chrome, but been using Comodo Dragon (based on Chrome) and been pleasantly surprised.

Yep slow, particularly on pages with lots of ads. Have found using in incognito mode speeds stuff up

To test this, I've just restarted my 'puter (4 gb AMD 955, ATI 6950) and opened up Chrome, then restarted and then IE

Opening up just this STW web page brings up:

3 chrome processes totalling in 137 mb
3 IE 9 processes totalling 157 mb

Chrome took 9 seconds to fully display the page
IE took 5 seconds to fully display the page

The page item that was always the last to appear was the tools menu of the posting window.

I'm not entirely sure what this shows, but I was bored and wanted to investigate.....
