I need to get a Christmas present for my dad, the budget limit has been set at £20. Has anyone seen any decent whisky deals that will get a half-decent bottle of something for a slightly meagre budget?

Ideally in a shop/supermarket, as I've obviously left it a bit late for mail order...

If you'll broaden it to include whiskey then Tesco were doing Woodford Reserve for £20 at the weekend. Probably at least the equal of any Scotch you're likely to pick up for that money.

Worth keeping an eye on Amazon for decent deals on scotch. They have a good selection and always a few reductions.

I guess if you order today it should arrive on time, especially if you have prime.

A quick look reveals they have an Aberlour 10 for £20.40 today, Auchentoshan for £19.95 and Tamnavulin for £18.00.

Yeah, there are deals on Amazon, but I don't have Prime and it's cutting it a bit fine postage-wise.

Aldi Black Heather 8 year old is outstanding and £15 a bottle.
Money left over for a glass to go with it?

at that price the Aldi or Lidl single malts - you won't get a big name at the £20 quid in single malt form but the german discounters are a good option
or alternatively get black grouse, it's a blend but allegedly it's mostly highland park with a few other things, I will buy this as a midweek whisky
[EDIT] the tamnavulin sounds good

Yeah, Amazon's good for deals on spirits but it only really works out if you've Prime.

If you don't fancy the Woodford have a look at the extremely useful HUKD spirit deal page. There's a few in supermarkets at your price point, none I'd particularly recommend though.

The Black Heather is a blend. Very similar to Black Grouse mentioned above.
Won many awards.
A 50cl bottle is only £10, which is outstanding value

Tescos have some pretty competitive pricing on their whisky at the moment.

Ardmore for £18, Auchentoshan for £20 etc.

https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/shop/drinks/spirits/whisky/malt-whisky?sortBy=priceAscending

Bought a bottle of Ardmore for Christmas tipple but drank it already so will be off to get something else later this evening.

This year there is a new blended whisky (I know, I don't normally either) called Shackleton, based on the blend he took on his sailing jolly south. Usually on supermarket shelves around the £20-30 mark but could be on special offer. I just finished a bottle last week & it was lovely!

Tesco regularly have Auchentoshan American Oak for about £25. very light and vanilla tasting. I'd have a look for that. Also that Shackleton that scruff mentioned - was also around the £20 mark and very nice. Nice box as well so looks good as a pressie
