Talking about black people, excluding whites, being a **** etc. Seriously- would a white person get away with continually talking about black people in the way he talks about white people get away with it?
Youre a racist and ICMFP
The whole broke joke is also pretty dull when you consider he’s likely still a multi, multi millionaire.
Context is everything. Stop **** being used as a racist slur by taking ownership of it in a non-racist way.
And why is Liam wearing a coat indoors?
And why is Liam wearing a coat indoors?
haha I was thinking that.
Coz he is the end of a bell
Liam looks very edgey wonder why.......
Yep. He looks like he needs something now.
And for the OP, that’s the legacy of white privilege.
He's worried Idris will slap him.
OP, what do you mean by 'get away with it'?
A lot of American standup shows I've seen are based on race for a large portion of it. Don't find it that amusing, pretty dull actually but then I don't live there so don't know what it's like day to day.
As a white person I wasnt offended.
As a black person my wife wasn't offended.
What's the problem?
It's not black and white.
that’s the legacy of white privilege.
Pretty much. It's also amazing how many of white folk will get offended, or bristle when referred to en masse by our race the same way that we often refer to black people.

You change race depending on your marital status?
Magic! 😀
It’s true, Black people can use the N word, white people cant - it’s terribly racist, but on balance, I suspect white people do better out of the whole racism thing.
Black people using the n word does not bother me
Although a black women took offence and accused my white nephew of being rascist when he used the word honkey
Bernard Manning esque jokes about his soon to be ex wife 🙄
Just a bit rubbish really.
he used the word honkey
In what context was he using honkey?
I’m not seeing what I’m supposed to outraged at?

Did you miss the bit where he says he’s always felt rich?
I’m not seeing what I’m supposed to outraged at?
Being called privileged and fat and a bit dim and insensitive.
Eh?
No Drac, that was actually the nicest part of his appearance, getting to know a bit of the real Chris Rock. And exactly my point - why the constant joking about being broke?
Oh!
Not sure just part of his act talking about his past, seems to have worked and made him very rich.
Yeah, I’d agree with that. You kind of want them to drop the act on chat shows though don’t you?
There was a good article on the guardian this week on the success of the Graham Show and one of the interesting observations is how all the guests are equals, coming out at the same time, and how that’s a great leveller. You even see some stars in awe of others, like last week with Margot Robbie and Harrison Ford. It’s quite interesting! I thought the glimpse of the real Chris Rock we saw was much nicer than the act you get on stage.
I don’t really watch it as a rule but he is very good at making them relax and yes the way they’re on at the same time makes it a bit more natural. I switched off when Liam came on singing the same tune but with different words. 😆
Liam was dreadful 😆

Liam has always been dreadful
FTFY
he used the word honkey
In what context was he using honkey?
Don't know the exact context but referred to himself as a honkey while drunk at a BBQ. She's a nice lady and would have pulled up a black person using the n word.
I've not heard anyone use honkey in a very long time
There are some white people who think it's unfair for black people to use **** when they can't because they would like to use it in a rascist context and they are wrong.
But some people find racist language unacceptable irrelevant of context and irrespective of the race of the person it's aimed at and of the race of the person saying it and even if they are one and the same.
Maybe that is like the lady I know is the ops stance.
And for him to be labelled a racist straight away by merak is a bit strong.
Unless of course the op has form for racist comment.
Eh?
Oh! Sorry, no one said that are all
I’m really not sure what you are on about CM. 😕
I was unfortunate enough to see a bit of Chris Rock before I could walk away.
It struck me that he seemed to be coked out of his tiny mind.
Great fake news thread. So many interpretations assumptions and accusations about something thats not very important at all.

Not sure its that either- not that its a word i want to be able use.
If the word has been truly reclaimed like say Gay then we can all use it. As it is it is a word only black people can use it should still be considered a racist word. The only other example i can think of is Spurs fans chanting Yid army and then complaining its racist when folk chant Yid at them.
Whilst I get the historical context of all of this I am not sure we have reached the end point yet and its still not equality and its still , in some sense, racist.
Better if no one uses IMHO but far be it from me to preach to black people on this issue which affects them more than me.
Racial issues aside, Chris Rock is about as funny as a potassium enema.
I’ve not seen any of his recent standup, but I found his ‘making bullets cost more’ routine from years ago very funny. Totally unrelated, but Dave Chapelle does the best ever white man voice.

But did you see him on GN?
I did, I thought he was pretty funny. Idris and Liam are a right pair of knobs, however.
