I thought it was ‘champing’ not ‘chomping’...

As above. Champing.

As bad as when people say ‘you have two choices’ when they really mean ‘you have 1 choice with 2 options’.

I'd not want to be saddled with that ailment

At our surgery you just have to jockey for position at the reception desk. Long odds, mind - some of those old dears can be a 'mare

No wonder your wife doesn’t want anything to do with you, I bet you had four faults at the first jump.

As bad as when people say ‘you have two choices’ when they really mean ‘you have 1 choice with 2 options’.

Or when people say it's a "dilemma", but there are three choices.

Dilemma: value burgers or glue factory? Probably a bit of both, spread your bets.

Let's rein in the pedants....This surprised me too, but looked it up in the dictionary. It's OK to carry on saying chomp - this is actually the correct phrase these days...maybe champ was the original saying, but who the hell say's champ to refer to chewing these days? I've never heard that in my life. It's been well and truly superseded by chomp and now the main word used to describe chewing. The Oxford dictionary say's it's OK so it is. Under the definition of champ the dictionary actually says champ means chomp under as soon as it stops referring to its primary meaning of a shortening of champion.

Cadbury's knew it when they called their delicious chocolaty, caramel snack a Chomp bar, not a Champ bar.
