What is it about chips from the local chinese takeaway that make them soo much better than chipshop chips?
Nothing. You're just going to the wrong chip shops.
Chips from the Chinese are just awful.
Drac is wrong. Best chippie in our town is a chinese, they do the best curry sauce as well.
Ditto. Wrong chip shop.
or even better make your own 🙂 dead easy.
My local Chinese does fantastic chips too... far better than the closest chip shop.
Their Chinese food is spot on as well...
I think they get flavoured with all the other deep fried stuff - sweet and sour pork/chicken balls, spring rolls etc. Some people love it, others Like for instance Drac, hate it. Imagine that!
Deep fried liquorice all-sorts is where it's at 😉

That just means your chip shop in town is worse than awful.
Different oil too? I seem to remember them always being volcanically hot from chinese takeaways, is the oil hotter than in a traditional chippy?
I like them from chinese sometimes, I sort of see them as a bit different in the same way that kebab shop fries are different from chip shop chips or indeed burger king ones.
My old local Chinese did the best chips too. Their curry sauce on top was delightful too and hot as you like.
Nah, some great chippies near us with the best fish available anywhere. Chips from a couple of local chinese takeaways manage to look re-fried while managing to be crisp, tasty and generally great.
Oh Chinese chips and curry sauce, mint
Chinky chips and chippy chips are like two different ales. Both different but...
That just means your chip shop in town is worse than awful.
Racism 😉
No, you're wrong, it's a belter. Everyone knows the York Road chippy is the best in town and probably the county. Blinding fresh chips and crispy non-soggy batter on the fish. You must be one of the soggy newspaper type chip lovers.
Need to get your chips fried in dripping to get them proper tasty. Can't be doing with fish and chips cooked in oil, it's just not right.
What chips for the iDave diet?
Not many places still cook in beef dripping, more's the pity.
Chipped potatoes done in the oven on a tray with the skin on, coated in olive oil salt and pepper.................Nice
What kind of a Chinese restaurant does chips? Answer - A REALLY bad one.
Just back from from my local Chinese....Crispy Satay Bass. Nomnomnom.
the secret of good Chinese chips lies in 3 little letters

Charlie I think they are talking a bit down market from a restaurant i.e. takeaway.
I honestly think that many Chinese take-away chips are better than many fish 'n' chip shop chips because the Chinese actually care about their clientèle and therefore give a shit about what they are serving.

There's a chippy down the road from Blazing Saddles in Hebden Bridge that offers chips in veggie and beefy variants.
What kind of a Chinese restaurant does chips?
All of the ones in England, or at least, the vast majority.
the Chinese actually care about their clientèle
