I am heading to china in April for a holiday and wondering what is the best route for applying for a visa.
Go to www.google.com
Via their embassy?
If you want one short notice, fly to Hong Kong and they do an overnight turn around service in the airport, just book 1 night in the airport hotel and you're good to go the next morning.
I've always used these folks http://cibtvisas.com/
Albeit for work purposes as opposed to holiday, but their service has always been first class. Visas sorted as and when they said they would, admittedly at a cost, but easier than trudging around to embassies, etc.
cant do the embassy visit, i work away month on month off and I have my kids the last half of this time home, so need to sort it this week or next. Will go through one of the agencies.
Cheers all.
Our guys are on short working visas so not quite the same but a visit to the embassy/consulate or cvasc is usually best. Everything about the process feels complicated and oldschool but it actually works pretty smoothly ime.
<edit- dang, crossposted, sorry!>
The Hong Kong place is currently under refurb. I'm not too sure if they can do it there now.
They were actively trying to discourage this sort of thing.
If you only coming for a few days, then you can pick one up at either Beijing or Shanghai, but it's limited to 3 days.
They will want your flight ticket details.
If you're coming through Qingdao, let me know, see if we can ride together (although I've just moved here and have no idea what it's like)
