This would properly freak me out. I don't like it when one of those automated car wash things moves relative to a stationary car, but having this drive over me would cause wee to come out.

It's only 2m tall?

Better get the bike off the roof bars then.

What could possibly go wrong?

But what happens when I want to turn off when I'm being straddled (oo er missus!)? The muppets already seem to think they have the right to block the roads at various points.

I remember seeing the plans for this a while ago. Can't believe they've gone and done it.

What happens when the old dear panics as darkness descends upon them!

Seems like a good solution to gain capacity on trunk roads. Needs to be higher though as otherwise it will not even clear vans. More of a train than a bus as it runs on rails and 4 can be linked.

Rails...capacity...hmm, I think there might already be something along those lines....

So the bus can't overtake or be overtaken by anything taller than a small van (fire engine, ambulance?) and would need clear space beneath it if it were to turn onto another road when other traffic might want to go straight on. Sounds like it presents as many problems as it solves.

I do like the idea of a really wide train though.

rails...

I think the point is that this uses less space than train or frame, hence easier to retro fit in a buddy area.

Chinese straddling bus

My imagination went into apoplexy until I clicked on the link. I imagined some kind of acrobatic gyrations and was mildly disappointed to discover that it was only about a novel public transport solution.

I thought it was just a mad concept drawing. But they actually built it! 😯

Why don't they also fill in the lower area. Like a double decker bus. 🙄
