Just been for a meal and ordered my 2 and a half year old fish fingers , they arrived and while she was
Eating it we noticed bones in it. Couldnt belive it, we mentioned it to the manager who basically said its fish, it has bones in it, thats fine in an adults meal but kids? No were on the menu does it say may contain bones. The managers attitude about it was really bad.
Are we been to fussy? Would you expect to find bones in a childs meal?

Well it is passed the watershed.

Perhaps they only serve kids fish fingers 5pm, not passed bed time 🙂

No were on the menu does it say may contain bones.

Surely everyone knows fish can contain bones?

We used to go through any fish of unknown provenance to check for bigger ones.

Molly did you ever find a bigger fish in the smaller fish ?
what did it say about the nut roast?

TBH I am assuming its your first child we can all be prone [ myself included]to an over reaction along the lines of wont someone think of the children
IMHO this was yours.

Were they polite in saying this or shitty in saying this?

The restaurant is correct - and there will be a disclaimer ...
a) If it arrived on the plate macerated, you would't be happy
b) The world doesn't revolve around you kid. I know it does for you ... but for the rest of us we might find this a bit of an over-reaction ....

I'd take it as a good sign - that the fish fingers were home made and contain yer actual fish. I've never found a bone in a supermarket FF, after years of intensive testing

COUld you send it to scaredypants so he doesn't feel lft out?

I'm going the otherway on this one. I'd be a bit put out. If i was serving kids fish fingers I'd make sure they cut from fillet that'd been pin picked cos I don't think I'd want toddlers carking it on my premises.

I think the OP needs a "should I really post this on an Internet forum" filter. (Which might also catch any errant bones.)

I have the strangest bone right now.

Yes its fish. Even findus packets say they may contain bones.

If you need your hand held my three year old nephew can show you how to find the bones and leave them at the side of the plate. Probably best you never go out for dinner ever again.

I'd have had a tiny sense of humerus failure about it. But it's not that bad. At least you were able to fish them out.

Come on, stop ribbing the guy - his kid nearly dying is quite high on the scales

Usually, this would be the right plaice to have a dab at a pun or two, have a whale of a time. But, my sole's just not really in it, you see. I fear I may just flounder around a bit instead.

Had the same argument in a local restaurant.

Took a photo of the bones from the kids fish portion and the attitude of the restaurant changed v.v.quickly in our favour.

Try a different plaice next time.

Oh and yes you're massively overreacting.

Oh and I hope you knocked the waiter off his Perch. Can't let them leave you floundering for Ling over such a serious matter.

If you're a restaurant couldn't you have supplied the meal yourself?

Kind of agree with the op. Some of this fish based hilarity needs to be in mumsNET.
