Wife's boss who she hates has filled her position before she's even handed her notice in, so wife wants to screw her up and stay in the job. (Very much shortened story)

To do this we need to find a childcare provider in edinburgh where we could drop the kids off at 7am and pick them up after 6pm - three days a week.

Anyone know of anywhere?

tea and biscuits anyone?

Having had a friend who needed to do something similar for a few weeks, the only solution they found was to have a friend who also used the same nursery take their child before nursery and a different friend (also using the nursery) collect them.

So screw herself and family, to get one 'up' on someone else?

Hmm, takes 'special' person to be that bitter...

no idea...

but impressed/worried with the 'filling your wife's post before she left it' bit. She is NHS isn't she SBZ? We have no end of hurdles replacing staff, which cannot start until the day after then outgoing person's last day, I would love to speed that along a bit as even with the system firing on all cylinders we have a typical 10-12 week gap when someone leaves (kiddies mental health, no shortage of applicants and enhanced CRB's fwiw)....

JW - she is NHS.

It is a long running feud that the two of them have, well manager and all of the physio staff really.

Wife wants to stay in the job, but so far hasnt been able to sort out childcare, hence why she mentioned that she might need to hand her notice in.

One other thing that annoyed the physio staff recently was that there was a vacancy advertised internally but it was advertised in a place where none of the people who would have been the best candidates would have seen it - because they couldnt access it.

The earliest one I know out here in Musselburgh is the Links nursery which opens at 7:00 (well it did when we were looking for childcare about 2 years ago - ahh, just googled it, now it is 7:30). Boo!

Hope you find one!

Maybe look at a childminder rather than a nursery!

Have you considered dropping them off at the local zoo?

Sorry, probably shouldn't say it (but I will anyway) - eleven hours at nursery?! That seems an awfully long day.

I think you'll struggle to find anywhere that would take a child for that length of a day. Oh hang on a minute...... there you go....

eleven hours at nursery

Our kid goes 8-6 - so 10 hours - as do majority of the kids there. Another hour make a big difference? Not ideal maybe I agree but if that's what your life/work permits then what's the issue.

And, er, what about boarding school?

Just comparing the situation with that of my two and a half year old. She would have been up only half an hour before arriving at nursey, and be brushing her teeth / in bed by seven in the evening. As an adult I wouldn't fancy having just an hour each end of a 'working' day, that's all. Who am I to judge though? Good luck with the search.

I was going to through in my two pen'orth on the time spent at nursery. But then I realised that I often see Baby North for less time each day.
