This will be baby no.3 and its due at any minute. TBH i'm dreading the birth.. it aint pretty and i feel like there's not a whole lot i can do during the event. Apart from words of encouragement, wetting mrs cloudnines head with a cold flannel and enthusiastically shouting push at the right moments what more can a man do?? I was considering charging up the gopro but feel i could never relive the event even with a slick edit and music soundtrack.

Any really good man role tips as my sarcastic jokes and hogging of the gas and air wasnt hugely appreciated last time either. Is my presence at the birth enough??

What more can you do? If you're not there you'll never be allowed to forget it. Not ever.

No 3, you're going to be outnumbered, no wonder you're shitting it.

Good luck!

If it's any consolation, I'm sure that Mrs Cloudnine will be having a worse time than you....

I'll definately be there.. I think its the feeling of helplessness at watching your wife /partner squeeze out a baby.. and praying that everything goes ok.
It'll be a huge sigh of relief once its popped out.

If you've done it twice before, you should know the rules:

1. Be there
2. Speak only when spoken to
3. Don't try to say anything funny about poo, "extra" stitches etc
4. STAY AT THE TOP END
5. Try to be invisible to midwives
6. Be aware of the "blunt scissors" gag played by the most evil of midwives....
7. Take STW / the papers for after the excitement
8. Take your own food / bevs
9. Dress lightly - it'll be ****ing boiling in there!

Did this thu night/fri morning. First time.
I think we will get a dog.
I was a nervous wreck ! Ended up in there for c section and I had to have a wee lie down ! Women are hard as nails, I knew that but now I can acknowledge it properly !

Do ask for an extra stitch or two to tighten her up.

Mrs b (midwife) still thinks it hilarious dispite being asked this about a gazillion times.

Good luck. Our number 3 here is now two weeks old here. As said above, do as you are told, stay at the top end and don't cut the chord. I felt I should do it because I had turned down the midwife's offers to go and look at the head coming out etc.

It was brutal cutting that chord - not the beautiful bonding thing they make you believe it is.

All done.. beautiful baby girl born at 5.44am
All perfect and I stepped up to cut to the cord.
Massive relief like you wouldn't believe and apparently performed my duties admirably.

Had a quiet moment and a little prayer for bruders.

To be fair, they don't give you much room for error do they? Two clips around an inch apart. "There you useless eejit, cut between those." 😆

Congratulations dude. Great news for you.

don't forget to sit down every now and then if your wife's been having contractions for 40 hours and you've been stood up all that time, I nearly passed out when the wife had her epidural...

I am so glad our baby dropping days are behind us. Like you I felt worried for mrs_oab and pretty useless apart from encouragement.

I was considering charging up the gopro but feel i could never relive the event even with a slick edit and music soundtrack.

😆 😆 😆
