Does anyone know what the law states about putting child seats in the front of a car?
My daughter's nearly 5 and uses a booster seat which I assume is legal to put in the front, but I'm not 100% sure.
Also, would I need to disable the passenger air-bag or is that just for rear-facing child seats?
fine and disable bag for rear facing seats only
Ta, just found this on the AA which agrees;

Wow.
Next time it really could be a child's face!
I'll be interested to see the responses to this.
My 4-and-a-half year old rides in the front on his booster seat thingy, since our newborn arrived and HRH wants to sit in the back with the baby.
I can't see how it's any different to him sitting in the back - he's strapped in using the vehicles 3-point seatbelt & is forward facing therefore not a problem wrt to the airbag.
(of course, I could be mistaken...)
I thought it was all to do with the explosive impact of the air bag, as in a child who is not as big as an adult or older child will feel the full force of a fully inflated air bag due to them being further back from the dash or wherever its situated! Probably wrong tho! Fwiw I don't let my kids sit on just the booster, they still have the backs on the chairs which guide the seatbelt down across their shoulder.
