5 yr old has got it, had it a few days now, she's fine but spotty obviously.

Advice is she can't go back to school till the spots have scabbed, but in people's experiences, do all the spots scab?

She's got lots that have gone scabby already, but there's a few here and there that are quite small and don't really look like they're changing. Do some just fade away?

usually takes about 5 days - if there are still vesicles (fluid filled blisters) then potentially infectious, is the "rule"

@richardkennerley, have you had it? Because if you haven’t, leave the house until she’s better.
I never had it as a kid but caught it off my 2 when I was in my 30’s. I can’t describe how Ill I felt.

Agreed. A friend of ours caught it in her 50s, and died from it.

Yes, both me and my wife have had it. I remember when I had it, I was off school on the Friday and back in on the Monday! But some kids had two weeks off. Long time ago that.

My old man got it off me and was bed ridden for a couple of weeks.

I got it when I was 17.
The first of the spots appeared on my John Thomas😲
That made for very painful mornings.

My little boy had it about a month ago (4 yrs old) most scabbed but the smaller ones didn't.

We went off 5 days from the last spot appearing which was about 8 days from the first scabs give or take. It was hard to tell. Luckily it was over the school holidays so didn't matter.

We cut his nails short and used camomile lotion.

His spots are just starting to go now.

From experience with my two boys having it a few years ago,  I can thoroughly recommend Poxclin mousse.  Was the only thing that worked at giving them some relief.

Poxclin mousse

Not cheap, but it works well.

Yes, we got the poxcilin, seems pretty good, and some calomine, she's not been scratching or particularly unwell, a pretty mild case I think

She's got lots of spots that have clearly scabbed, there's just the odd one that's a pink blemish that don't appear to be changing. I wonder if they will just fade away or does every single spot turn into a vesicle and scab?
