She has been doing he song before hand so was wearing part of that outfit, I was watching her dance in semi-naked rather watch men run around on a pitch. Well I was putting some fuel in the burner and this mrs has it on in the next room.

Sorry missed the forum thing! Tend to do that now since I monitor the summary and not the individual forums

Thought she did pretty well with the singing myself. Didn't really stand out, but was in tune and in time I think.

Don't you mean miming? She used the standard X-Factor hoodwink where she records a 'live' version - complete with the occasional "Whoop" and "Yeah, c'mon" - and then mimes over the top. Same as Alex Burke et al.

Not convinced, several times you can hear she wheezes and her voice trembles as she performs a dance move. Would be some pretty comprehensive hoodwinking to fake that (not that its impossible)

MrsGrahamS last night: "Bloody hell, well I'd do her in that outfit!"

I've been trying to get hold of Cheryl's agent since, but he won't return any of my calls, emails or faxes... currently packing the car to drive to her house.. 😉

And for those that missed it:

(much better without the sound)

It was like watching Janet Jackson with the Salvation Army.

She's rapidly becoming like Mrs Beckham - a pointless collection of body parts.

Try singing and dancing at the same time and see if you can do it without a bum note ❗
well known reason why most if not all the "stars" mine over a track

My point was that if you listen she does indeed hit the odd funny note while moving vigorously, she ain't miming IMO. In fact I'd say it sounded better than her recorded version.

Really? I think the lip-synching looked fairly off to me, and she has the sort of singing voice that causes dogs to whimper and small children wet themselves.

Very atractive - in a child's doll sort of way - but so irredeemably dull as a human.

Mrs North has a lot to answer for making me watch that sh*te..!

I never saw the young lady in question, no really
so can't really comment

anyway, digital TV feeds can often be out of sync with the video & audio making the spotting of mimers difficult if it's not obvious sometimes

She sings? I didn't notice. I was possibly distracted. Perhaps that was the plan. It seemed to work 🙂

I've absolutely no way of judging how dull she is as a person, I only see short clips of her on TV.

Attractive in "a childs doll sort of way". I worry about you! In all seriousness, how the hell does she look like a childs doll, and how would that be at all appealing?

I must admit to having lots of time for her - quite beautiful and seems very genuine on the telly. And I don't normally go for people off the box at all.

mimed, very very definately mimed.

Worth noting though that even if your mymeing the mic is still 'on', hence how you can make noises/talk/sing allong to bits of it. Usualy there's a pre agreed signal to the sound desk (mic in other hand, lift finger off mic, grab coat etc) when your about to adlib etc.

Allegedly, the only big band that doesn't myme is Coldplay, smaller bands (and festivals) tend to be less mymed as the sound engineer tends to be from the venue not traveling with the band.

I worked as the sound engineer for a boy band performance a few years ago. Their manager said to cut off all but one mikes at a set part of the intro on a song. I didn't know the song so was concentrating and turned them down on the beat. The problem was they were still gabbling to the crowd and bigging themselves up at the time so not very subtle. Still the crowd seemed to find it funny. 😀

Are you suggesting that most live bands mime?

Most bands do not mime.

Apart from Sigue Sigue Sputnik; the music carried on and so did the vocals after the band had left the stage following a hail of glasses & bottles when I saw them. Good fun though.

None of the bands I've seen live have mimed. They were mostly bloody awful. With the exception of Green Day and Tenacious D and The Verve, who were absolutely amazing, if a little different to their recorded versions.
