Found this lethal trio and have no idea what they are. The four pronged end is wicked sharp and seems designed to dig into something soft (wood?).
The two smaller ones have never been used and are still a bit greasy, the bigger one is missing the plastic block to store the pointy end safely.
I have no idea what it could be.

Mortice drill for forming rectangular pockets in wood. Used on a morticing machine, the drill removes the bulk of material and the square section cleans the hole to shape
Commonly known as a thrunge dropper

I'll go with mortice drill. And I'll call it Loretta.

Thanks mrmonkfinger. Just watched an Axminster video to see how it works. One you think of it as four chisels with a way of getting the excess material out it almost seems obvious. Almost.

What they are and what they do.

The drill bit sits slightly proud and as it advances into the wood it cuts a round hole. The needle sharp chisel points basically just take off the corners making the round hole square.
The drill takes out the vast majority of the material, the chisels need only slice a tiny bit, and thats being propelled downwards with weight behind it so it cuts quite easily.
The deep spiral is to get the chippings away and out as quickly as possible.
Were the drill similar to standard drills the chips would clog and jam and possibly even snap the bit.

One of the handiest tools in the shop, for anyone ever having had to cut them in oak 😉

You boring lot, being all sensible and like.

It is clearly a thrunge-borer for aquatic mushrooms.

You boring lot,

I see what you did there... 😉

Yeah, hollow chisel mortiser to be more preciserer.

Fun fact. I once cut through my finger into my tendon with a hollow chisel mortiser. After that I had to ride my motorcycle to A&E and get it seen. It's forever been slightly bent after that.

Top tip, support the end of door frames with a roller. Failing that, don't move the frame without stopping the machine 😐

A mate had them given to him a couple of years ago for some reason (he doesn't even own a hammer.)
I suspect he'll just stick them on the 'bay.

I'm sure someone might buy them, but a lot of people have moved over to the Festool Domino machines in smaller workshops.

Very handy to have though.

Haha, saw one of these at school 30 years back. The drilling of square holes was mind blowing at the time.

Am I allowed to say that I want your tool?

(Supposed to be building a desk for daughter, so far I've got so far as to cause BK a gaping wound in his shin that probably should have stitches. I should not leave wood at the bottom of the stairs. He should not walk around in reading glasses.)
