Macbook Airs were more expensive than the equivalent not-air when I got mine (by a lot). Mine was expensed so I dint' shop around though.

To be honest i'd go John Lewis pay the price and get the 2 years warranty cover. Also found John Lewis £50 cheaper when I brought my MacBook.

Apple store does certified refurbished which are usually a lot cheaper than retail.

Think you find that Apple will be updating the Air in June
Found info on macrumours.com

Regarding refurbs Apple even though new ranges come out the most they reduce
for there refurbs is around 15% off the retail price..

Got mine through the education store with a decent student discount (I'm registered with a uni for some professional development stuff)- got any avenues that way? IIRC you need a uni email address.

You pay more for an air for less power, you're paying for the slimline lightness.....

Agree with some of the others unless you really need the small slimline Air i'd personally go for a 13" MB pro.

Lightness and slimness is a good thing. It's not going to need much in the way of power.

Ask your mates if they get a discount? I get about 10% of via my employer - you need to know the special URL and have a company e-mail.

I do know that it doesn't come with a DVD yes. Like I say shouldn't be an issue.

I could of course buy it through my company and save that way...

Go down there with a student. Or find someone near the shop who looks studenty, give them a tenner and ask them to go in with you to get the discount.

15% off, and the 3 year AppleCare warranty is about £50, a saving of about 80%.

Have a look at the educational discounts here, gives you an idea of the savings available.

Cheers, Rich

I'd have thought this was the obvious way to buy any toy if it can be construed as work related?

buying through the business would be cheaper as you get the vat off. (unless you can get the vat off an educational purchase?)
just paid £700 for a new 13in mbp a refurb with a trade association discount plus the vat off so £300 off.

I bought mine using my wife's student discount. I think it was a saving between 15 & 20%.

At the time (12 months ago) you had to prove you were a student by providing a university email address.

Go on holiday, fly from Heathrow Terminal 5, buy one 'tax fee' from PC World.

Saved myself a £130 ish from memory.

the last two companies i have worked for Kraft and Tata both have employee schemes where you can get Apple products cheaper, i suspect there are a good few other companies that offer similar. Also look into the student discount and finally the refurb store.

Dixons @ airports have pretty good prices on Apple stuff, i've been looking at a 15" MBP, and they have it for £1440, is that a good price?

My wife has an employee scheme which I think still works. You get about 70notes off. Let me know. Totally against the rules but I'm sure that's ok 🙂
