Bought some cheap lomo sunglasses after a review on here a few years back. Normally kept in the car and used for driving whe the sun is low. Finally need to replace them but they're out of stock.

Thinking of just getting some tinted Bolle safety glasses instead.

Any other recommendations?

My nephew wears Dewalt tinted safety glasses when he surfs, they're pretty cheap and he doesn't care if he smashes them or leaves them in a bar

There was an article on radio 4 or 5 a week ago-ish about sunglasses- very informative, I’m sorry I can’t remember what program, might have been you and yours?

Vans Spiccoli. They’re about £12, and look great.

I’m trying out glasses direct with an order. You can order a home trial of their frames for fit etc for free essentially.

I’ve ordered some prescription sunglasses for the pool on holiday (to save my metal raybans from my daughter soaking them) and they are unbelievably cheap. £9 for the frames - I’ve gone all reckless and ordered tinted prescription lenses that are also polarised and have the relevant anti-scratch / anti glare coatings. Came to a whopping £57.50 I think it is all in / delivered.

I did a home trial of a few of the frames that were £20 each and they didn’t really seem any worse quality than the Polo Ralph Lauren glasses I already have which were quite a lot of money.

Sunglasses are cheap - brands are expensive

Loads on eBay. Around £12 for polarized shades.
SportPursuit also have O'Neill ones which are decent.

Tifosi sunglasses are great for about £20 - £25.
I have a couple of pairs of their S**** model - one pair for riding and the other pair live in the car.

Time for sunak and truss to be asked very pointed questions about how they will help the increasing numbers of people who really truly are out of options; they have no meaningful answers

Was it ‘best thing since sliced bread’?

It was OK. Essentially nearly every pair of sunglasses bought from a regular store met UV blocking and visible light reducing standards.

Super cheap (£2.50?) market sunglasses were 50:50 in a sample of 2 pairs.

OP, go for the style that works for you at whatever price point you like. They’ll do the job.

Edit. I think it was that program that also said category 4 sunglasses are not legal for driving in the U.K. and maybe that cat 3 polarising glasses might be judged similarly.

I've had good success with Tiffosi sunglasses, I have a casual pair and a riding pair. They're not super cheap but I think we'll worth the £30ish you can get them for. Much better quality than very cheap glasses and not really any worse than some Oakley sunglasses that will cost 4 times the price.

Thanks all. Don't want to get some super cheap market or eBay jobs.

Think I'll go for some Decathlon ones 👍. I'm in the office on Friday so can wonder by there and try some on.

@singletrackmind Picked up a pair with the 'fire mirror' lenses earlier this morning; the optics are indeed nice and clear - an absolute bargain. And, as a bonus, with my beard and a trucker cap they make me look like an 'operator'*...

Those de Walts look OK.

🤔 might have to pop in to Screwfix for some 10mm CSA T&E, clips, and a 50A MCB soon. Might pop some in my basket.
