We're driving in from the M56 and staying at the Premier Inn on Portland Street. They do a discount at the nearby Q-Park, making it 'only' £15 for 24 hours. Anyone know of anything cheaper? We'll need 24-27 hours.

Thanks in advance.

Manchester Arena 3.50 per day - Boddingtons car park

wouldn't be comfortable leaving my car there overnight, plus it's a bit of a hike from portland st...

Charles Street is quite reasonable and a short hike to Portland Street.

Hmm, Charles St might be a goer, although it is Fresher's Weekend, so it might be awash with people.

I've got a free space not more than 2 mins from charles Street, but for obvious reasons I'm not telling you where it is. 8)

I'd take the q-park offer it sounds reasonable for city centre manchester.

there's cheap parking over in the northern quarter, but its not much cheaper and its on insecure wasteland.

I don't think you'll find anything cheaper than £15 for 24 hours in central Manchester. Is that for the Q-Park under the Novotel, off Portland Street? There's an open air car park at Whitworth Street West a few minutes walk away and another in the G-Mex centre, but I can't find the prices.

have you tried parking in there?? the spaces are very tight and in some bays you park up and cant open the door because of the pillar!!
the multi storey behind manchester uni would be a better bet. same price as charles street (but it closes at midnight and reopens at 6am) and its only a short bus ride or 10 minute walk to portland street

Save a few bob and then spend it on a bus fare? The Portland Street Q-Park is within a few yards of the Novotel, Ibis and Premier inn. Convenient when you've got a suitcase.

I won't disagree with this, I had to park the Kuga on the roof last week because it wouldn't fit on the lower floors.
The lesson i learnt was to get there early and take two bays.

Manchester council have screwed the parking in the city centre. Take the £15/night option.

Note also, that there is no free on street parking after 6pm. You have to wait until after 8pm in the city centre zone.

Salford's the place for cheap parking and access to the city centre ...but that doesn't help you if you're staying on Portland St.

Thanks all. I think I'll save the faff and go with the Q-Park. Best bring the Fiat 500 rather than the van though, just in case!

You might save the equivalent to half a pint if you keep looking, Q park is a typical price for a city center( all too dear in my opinion) and on the cost of the stay over,is it worth worrying!!
