I keep getting the links from money saving expert about cheap energy.
I've been with OVO for a number of years and the service has been great but the price now seems to be soaring compared to other providers.
Is anyone using Yorkshire energy for their supplier and if so what are they like to deal with?
Any other recommendations?
I use money saving expert, I swap almost annually. I've just left Octopus (very good) to green energy network as it's cheaper...
Just use one of the comparison of tools...and when you’ve found a deal see if you can get it direct through Quidco or such like.
I too have just gone with Green Energy Network as they were cheaper and the reviews seemed good.
I stayed with npower for years as their fixed price deals were as cheap as any other supplier was offering. But this year E.ON had a special deal that saved £100/year but you could only get it if you went through MoneySavingExpert. I don't understand why they'd do that. I'm sure it will be whacked up next year so will have to switch again. I'd much prefer a loyalty discount but they don't seem to be a thing now.
Recently switched back to Octopus after moving and having a few months of SSE, I think there is a bit cheaper elsewhere but I've received top customer service and got cash back, so can't complain.
I’m with Peoples Energy. Cheap, fuss free, no fat cat salaries, 75% of their profits paid back to their customers.
Thanks guys, I'll check them out.
Currently MSE has E.on as the best 'big 6' energy deal which is about £20 a month cheaper, but they also show Yorkshire energy as being £36 pm cheaper which adds up to a lot over the year.
I think I may take the plunge on that and then re-assess in a years time. It seems like this is the best way to go, as with car insurance.
@Greybeard - I'm with you on the loyalty discount. It's a shame not many places do this now.

Definitely worth checking regularly. The mse energy club is useful.
I recently switched from bulb to green energy network after bulb became considerably more expensive. Interestingly the deal I'm on with GEN isn't available through the GEN normal site. They were actually a similar price to bulb going this away, but going through the mse linked deal was much cheaper.
Same with octopus on their offer - much cheaper deal through mse than going directly to octopus.
I'm with So Energy for gas and on Octopus Tracker for electric. anyone with octopus can I recommend you look into Octopus Tracker (you have to ask to go on it I think) I don't know how it would work if you are on dual fuel with Octopus, but it's worth asking. My electric DD has gone from £35 pm to £25 pm with Octopus Tracker.
Octopus Agile electric tariff is saving me a fortune at the moment. Tracks wholesale prices with an (artificial) expensive peak time 4-7pm - if you can shift usage out of then it’s cheap during the day and really cheap at night.
Need a suitable smart meter though and they’re not doing new installs of them at the moment. I have first gen Secure ones (from when I was on First Utility) and they could take those over.

That's what I've been on, but for various reasons I've now gone on their Tracker tariff. One reason is the local 50kwh public charger is free to use so I'm not using the home charger.
I’m not going anywhere so not charging at home but rates hovering around 5-6p/kWh all day at the moment is helping massively. We just don’t run appliances during the peak, and with young kids at home the evening meal is usually cooked (or at least started) by 4pm.
Yep I'm very much an advocate of Agile, but certain circumstances have dictated that I move tariff. I only didn't recommend it because it requires the certain smart meter etc etc and I think Tracker is a good alternative that people can just switch to without having a smart meter install, which as you say, isn't going to happen now for a while, must be a massive back log.
(And the DD saving I mentioned above was against their Fixed tariff I was on for a while, not Agile)
i cant offer much advice but can offer 50 quid off bulb if you want it.
