Ive got some Tannoy mercury F4's which ive had for a fair few years but never really used them.

Im thinking of getting a cheap amp and using a chromecast audio to stream spotify to them.

Can anyone recommend me a cheap amp which will power the speakers as ive no idea as to what i need. I dont want to spend a fortune, really only looking to spend max £50.

Specs of the speakers :

Will something like this be suitable or are these cheap amps not worth bothering with?

For £50 you can have my old Yamaha RX-V495 AV amp. It's a full-size HiFi component but it'll rip the arms off those speakers.

Nice offers ^^

However to answer the question, yes I think they are worth bothering with. I have an earlier version of this one: http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/181684131665?_mwBanner=1&ul_noapp=true driving a pair of Mission M70's and they make a very nice noise.

You'll need a decent amp to get the best out of them, if your budget is £50 then you are looking at second hand for sure.

I got the cheaper 50 watt version since my yamaha refused to start after a power cut 🙁 and was getting fed up of the head phones when using the pc, seems ok even with the blindingly bright power led and the power supply is one of those typical chinese affairs with the dodgy conversion plug... sound is perfectly adequate for my needs and plenty loud enough for a small office. It's driving a pair of AE evo one 100W speakers btw.
