Been using one of these for a couple of years - good enough to read number plates, easy set up n use.

Make sure you switch it off before changing the sad card! Fried one at the beginning.

The esso stations near us are selling siskin dash cams for £15, check where you are to see if they have the same. 720p resolution. I've not got one so can't give a review but for the money should be worth a go?

Whatever the cheapest Nextbase one is at Halfords.

Not because they're the best cameras or anything but because the hardwire kit is easily available and a doddle to fit.

The camera will become a pain in the tits to use if there are trailing wires or you need to manually switch it on and off all the time.

I only need to remember to format the card every couple of weeks, otherwise it’s fit and forget.

Also, get one that records in higher FPS rather then HD.

The resolution won’t do you much good if the car you want to identify has shot through your range of vision at 80mph when you’re recording at 24 frames per second. The number plate’ll be a blur.

At 60fps you’ll have a fighting chance.

Stupid question is probably stupid, do you leave them in the car permanently or are they the kind of thing that gets robbed? I know exactly what's going to happen if it has to be taken out everytime its parked up.

The only time i take mine out is when I’m in military bases where they don’t allow cameras. Its on a magnetic mount and just slides out leaving the windscreen bracket and power cable still attached to the car.

What are these cameras like at night, any good? For the next 4-5 months I'll be commuting in the dark at least one way.
