Looking at climbing a North Wales mountain in Feb and will need a place to stay on a Friday night. Camping may not appeal given the time of year. Any other recommendations that are cheap?
There's a few bothys dotted around. If you want something a bit nicer it's low season so you might get a caravan/cabin going cheap. We had a lovely one one the edge of Snowdonia, dyfi estuary.
Climbing club huts. Some might be closed. Most are a bit rough and ready. Probably won't have amazing parking either. But they'll be cheap, dry and warm.
YHA at Ogwen? Or I think theres a bunkhouse at Capel Curig, possibly the former YHA.
Edit
Also Gwern Gof Uchaf bunkhouse is just along the rosd from Capel.
Travelodges in Caernarvon and Bangor both around £30 so that looks like the price to beat.
Travelodge? I’d take my tent or at least gwern y gof uchaf bunkhouse just on the location and was our regular camping spot from ‘76 ? Onwards sounds like a great idea though
Snowdon inn has a bunk house. Good food too.
Its in rhyd du.
There’s a good bunkhouse at Penmachno Molls, Which handily has a pub attached 😃
YHA January sale is currently on. 25% off if you book before the end of this month.
Other than that mountaineering club huts are cheap if you are a member of a BMC affiliated club.
Siabod Longhouse (bunkhouse) in Capel Curig will be worth a try 👍🏼
Siabod Longhouse is the other one I spotted via Google search, and looked worth investigating
Penrhos Isaf bothy (in CyB) is one of the easiest bothies to access. Then there is Cafe Amos, up by Garndolbenmaen. For the full on mountain experience there's Dulyn. It's a bit of a schlep to get to but ours you right in the heart of Yr Carneddau.
Take a look at the MBA site for more details.
