Looks like bin fodder.

File in  holder , little and often keeps the blunt at bay

I'd say no. Does it do the rakers? Is it actually compatible with your chain? Can you be bothered removing your chain to sharpen it? A couple of minutes with the file every two tanks of fuel and a round file and holder, depth gauge and flat file does it for me. If the wood is dirty I might sharpen more often but I judge it by the chips/dust ratio.

I also just think that cheap stuff is a crime against the planet as it is on the fast track to landfill.

Disclaimer - I have no experience of such a device. Other opinions may vary etc.

Don't waste your money. Get one of these from Stihl, with the right size file(s) for your chain(s)

It's ridiculously easy to get a consistent profile on each tooth, does the rakers too.

By the time you set up a machine sharpener, you could have already done one side of a chain, they are quite a faff.

They also harden the teeth due to heat generated, which in turn makes it hard to go back to hand sharpening. We have one just for the firewood processor where this is beneficial and it isn't so hard on chains if they are just right.

Professional ones cost a lot more too (10x) so there must be a compromise somewhere...

I have one of those LIDL chain sharpeners and a LIDL chainsaw, I ran the saw without any oil which blunt it very quickly.

After watching some videos of how to use the sharpener I made an attempt to sharpen it, which went OK however it was hard to sharpen each tooth the same amount and doesn't do the rakers.

I went to reassemble and the chain tensioner broke, so can't comment if it worked.

I think I will get a proper file fir my next saw.

They get some good reviews from pro users on arbtalk, and some poor. Finish is no better than filed but it's a useful tool for long loops if you've rocked and ruined teeth so restoring by file is a big job.  With a short loop and a pferd 2in1 file as willH suggests, filing is quicker than swapping to a spare chain almost.

Houns has it. After a while you won't even need the guide. Put the kettle on, sharpen one side, make tea and leave to steep, do second side, drink tea, fell trees.
