Has CRC gone tits up?
Their website was glitch and sparse yesterday and today its just dribble.

Damn I thought this was going to be a thread about the under-rated nuclear power plant thriller starring Keanu Reeves, Morgan Freeman and Rachel whats 'er name.
Still time to change it...
Looks fine to me?
Just searched for "What tyre" and got 72 different answers. Seems normal.
I hope so.
I’m kind of with @beefheart on this one. I used to like them, but when they reduced their BC discount from 10% on £100+ to £10 off a £150 (or greater) purchase, that was just taking the mick. I just go straight to Wiggle or Merlin or wherever now.
Yeah, much better idea to shop at Wiggle 😀

If they have what you want it is. And at least they don’t dangle discounts in front of you then take them away.
^^^ you do realise that Wiggle and CRC are the same place?

Oh, given this is in the chat forum I though it was going to be about the Radio 4 show

I came here to post that.
you do realise that Wiggle and CRC are the same place?
Of course I do. But Wiggle has not been involved in the BC discount. Only CRC’s name was on that!
What discount does Wiggle give to BC members?
None. They have nothing to do with BC except vicariously through CRC.
I think my previous comment has run away without me!
Customer service is shocking at the moment. I contacted them on 19th April about a warranty claim and I still haven't heard back. Their phone number is an answerphone message and the live chat is constantly busy/unavailable.
Hang on, you don't like CRC because they've reduced the BC discount but Wiggle are OK even though they don't have one?
I don’t like the fact that CRC shifted from a worthwhile discount to very much a token discount. It allows them to remain listed as one of the BC membership benefits, but doesn’t actually amount to anything. I would rather a company not associate at all than to engage in self-laudatory tokenism.
I don’t have anything against Merlin or wherever, because they haven’t benefited by having their name associated with BC as a benefit, but offered nothing to warrant it. If, on next renewal, there was another bike shop named as a benefit, which, on closer examination only offered, say, £5 on a £100 purchase, I would scoff in exasperation then too.
Paradiso - they're running with reduced staff numbers; pandemic and all that.
Every bike ship - on the high street or online - has seen increased sales of everything.
Yes, it's almost two weeks but....be patient.
I ordered two frames yesterday, one from Wiggle and the other from CRC, it'll be interesting to see which one turns up first or if they both arrive together. Have to say that Wiggles ordering process was far pleasanter than CRC's, mainly down to constant timing out issues and user stupidity.
Some chunky discounts on the go as well, if you're quick.
Bits ordered yesterday from CRC, arrived today.
Still fine for me. Stock seems low for some stuff but that’s to be expected at the mo I guess.
I’ve noticed that there are many STW members who have unrealistic expectations, or won’t use a company because of some piffling issue. There’s often a nasty whiff of self entitlement.
Let’s note a few things: online retailers are very busy at the moment (I know, as I run one, and we’re roughly 80% higher on turnover since the lockdown). You can’t employ more staff, for obvious reasons, many suppliers are running behind schedule and couriers are short staffed. In short, it’s difficult to manage.
So, I guess I’m saying - use your brains, people, and don’t expect the f***ing moon on a stick every time you make a (highly discounted from RRP) purchase.
JP
Moon on a stick! Bloody self entitled retailer more like. Thinking customers are out of order for wanting exactly what they were promised at time of purchase.
Well I've got a cheap saddle on the way from CRC. Or I did until thy passed it onto Hermes who have managed to have it out for delivery two days in a row and now it's showing as returning to retailer! Hopefully it's just Hermes being their usual crappy selves, see if it turns up anytime soon.
While these are not normal times, expecting a retailer to meet their basic statutory obligations isn't really expecting, "the moon on a stick". If they want to keep selling things, they should also provide basic customer service and support.
No - I think that there are often unreasonable expectations on here.
There will always be occasional issues with stock levels being wrong - especially when you’re dealing with the volume of orders CRC are. Mistakes happen.
I guess you lot are all perfect and nothing ever goes wrong at your workplaces then?

My workplace is set up so that it makes no difference whether things go right or wrong. CRC are an exemplar of efficiency and precision compared to us.
JPOO
What they should be doing is warning folk so they do not have the expectation of usual service.
passed it onto Hermes
the only reason I'll use pretty much anyone else over CRC at the minute. I'm out of the way where I live, but Hermes is the only courier that consistently fails to deliver when they say.
