I really like Yo! Sushi – some lovely food. Dangerously easy to eat/spend too much though.

Can't go into a Prezzo without having the grilled carbonara with chicken..

BK Bacon Double Cheeseburger XL is a tasty burger indeed. After much research, it wipes the floor with anything Maccy Ds can offer.

That said, double sausage mcmuffin with hash brown and a white coffee is a guilty pleasure I take part of if I'm on an early train anywhere with work.

KFC..Zinger boxed meal ( non stacked ) gravy side with diet Pepsi followed by a white chocolate Krushem ..and a big burp afterwards .. 😀

Another sneaky favourite is the classic Greggs sausage roll (or 2) and KFC Zinger Tower Burger meal, not necessarily at the same time.

All of the cheap ones, if I'm going to pay top dollar I want proper food, and maybe some metal cutlery.

Maccies, BK, KFC and Pizza hut are staples, Nandos, Five Guys, GBK, Wagamama and their ilk can FOD.

Taco Bell, just not enough of them in this country.

The last wetherspoons eggs benedict I had was cooked through and horrid. Even when they cook it right, the sauce is horrible. I only get one when we're out as a family and there's nowhere else with space for the prams/toys and wild kids!

Mission Burrito, probably the only thing I miss about living in Oxford.

Burger King is not bad at all, the bacon double cheese mentioned above does a right job when needed.
Cafe Rouge is consistently OK, nothing special but you know what you'll get and know it'll be OK. Pizza Express is the same, good, functional food.
The legendary Wetherspoons also fits the above description. More often than not you'll get an Ok feed, a well kept pint and it'll cost peanuts.

Gregg's sausage rolls and a McDonald's 6 nugget meal are the only chain food I'll eat. Both feel naughty but are really good 8)

I just think for pizza express[ and prezzo] prices you should expect a lot better than good functional food .How does a pizza get to cost £11 ?

Mac cheese with beef shin from Pret. Eaten messily enough it's a good way to get two seats for yourself on the 15.00 from King's Cross to Edinburgh (a similar and slightly more effective tactics can be used with a burrito from Benito''s Hat).

Large Dominos regular crust Pepperoni Passion, extra saucy, anchovies, jalapenos.

Breathe it down slathered with pots of garlic dips

Carluccio's for its bruschetta, focaccia and coffee

I only ever had Eggs Benedict once at a 'risky venue' which was a Morrisons Cafe. It was proper crap on every level (literally - muffin crap, ham crap, eggs crap, sauce crap) so I'd be keen to know whether Weatherspoons has a more refined approach. £5, widely available and a gallon of coffee sounds great!

There is a circle of hell reserved for people who eat stinky food on trains. The only people worse are Virgin Trains who seem to sell the stuff. I've never actually worked out what the food/smell they serve is (tuna/cheese toastie, but it smells nothing like a homemade one?) is but it makes everyone except the eater retch.

No way - first 15 minutes of the 1903 out of Kings Cross should smell like a Singapore hawker spot or the world will stop turning. After that people should nicely dispose of their crap and settle down for the journey. I make no apology but people who treat tables as bins should be flushed out onto the track.

Wagamamas - tried once but never again. You are better off spending your money on the top 5 above. Wagammamas opened a franchise in my hometown ... they closed down within 6 months. 😆

How big is a chain? Topolobamba - have places in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdoom, cracking food.

Bar Burrito - yes but no. Far better independents close by.

MrsKenny and I both love Nando's. We know we shouldn't, but we do.

I love a Whetherspoons Veggie breakfast wrap despite not being veggie, and a Wagamama's firecracker prawn hits the spot. But the Gregg's caramel custard donut and George's fish and chips are food from heaven. All things have a place.

Wetherspoons: So long as you avoid the ones which are booze dens full of drunks they do a very good job. Not saying they deserve a star or rosette but I can take my 2 lads, we can all have a burger, me a pint (usually decent and something new) them a coke for just over £20. Can't argue with that.

Burger King does a couple of decent burgers

McD - Quarter Pounded is okay and decent value. Their shakes are also a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine.

Greggs - baguettes are pretty good for the price and of course steak bakes. Not sausage rolls - just ridiculously salty

There's a butcher in Thame that does fantastic sausage rolls for a quid

Love is a bit strong but was surprised when last in a Spoons, some of it is alright now. They do a burger with pickles and pastrami (New York or something) which is quite nice as far as those things go.

Greggs veg pasty used to be nice. They have since cost reduced/tinkered/changed contractor and it's now like warm spew.

Wimpy quarter/half pounder and fries. Always freshly cooked. Not many left but fortunately still one in Strathclyde Park in Motherwell.

Why? Probably because they make a fabulous egg sandwich and small white Americano and a bag of chilli crisps for £6.. it’s one of the most reliable outlets that I can rely upon, and I’m a fan of the new style mini restaurants they place on main A roads that I seem to travel along these days. Suspect they’ve taken over the old retail network Little Chef had once, now at least coffee tastes good and the food is always a very good quality and standard.
The places are clean, quiet and don’t smell of burnt meat. Free WiFi, toilets that are big enough to turn around in and always seem spotlessly clean.
Whilst thier Tax paying business model is questionable, I’ve no influence over the rules so feel fine using them.

I’ve been to Nando’s once, the one at Xscape near Castleford. They had run out of chicken and I’ve never been back since. Love me a Burger King XL double cheeseburger.

McDonalds for double sausage & egg mcmuffin meal on the odd Sunday morning, their Signature Spicy burger is actually really nice to IMO (vs just something to stave off hunger for 30 minutes that the rest of the burgers seem to be for).

Being a Devon local I"m lucky enough to have the Rockfish chain close by, unbeatable fish and unlimited chips.
KFC 3 piece also a strong contender but always surprised that Nandos is so popular, strikes me as quite bad vfm.

And the seats? By christ they were uncomfortable – it was almost like they didn't want you to sit down and enjoy your meal in a leisurely manner, just get your money and move you on as soon as they could.

I've always thought this aswell. But they serve food and if I'm hungry I'll eat it. The same as every other chain restaurant, I've never had anything I found inedible. If I want really nice food I generally make it myself or go to good independents.

So back on track, my mornings at work wouldn't be the same without a Gregg's omelette bap after my cycle in.

And McDonald's apple pie has always been a delight for me.

More local chains we have Bird's the Baker's, Stacey's and George's fish n chips; they all deliver cracking food.

With the exception of my annual XL Bacon double cheeseburger I try and avoid chains, but my OH is common as muck so I will get dragged into one on occasion.

Had a nice butler steak (flat iron).

They did lose points for not serving the sirloin that my OH wanted as we were fifteen minutes too early for the evening menu it appeared on. I would have kicked off except I really wanted her to try the butler's anyway.

On the subject of Nando's, their veggieburgers are pretty decent.

Talking of veggieburgers, I always liked the Wimpy spicy beanburger. Not had one for years and years so it's nice to see the chain is making a comeback.

Bills. I went to the first one before it became a chain then went years later to a different one and it was an even better eating experience.
