Heading down to that there big city again for work, staying in the centre (between Pimlico & Victoria). Anyone got any recommendations for somewhere nearby to eat? (Not too expensive and safe / comfortable for a woman on her own)? Also, are there any exhibitions / museums nearby for an hour or two visit either in the evening or early morning?

Any advice much appreciated 🙂

Tate Britain near Pimlico is my favourite London museum, especially the 19th and 20th century stuff. Always used to be much much quieter than Tate Modern too.

I've been away far too long to recommend any eats around there though, sorry.

Tate Britain's in my old manor!

For Chinese, try A Wong or Hunan.
For beer, try Cask Pimlico.
For Italian, try Uno, and have the Calzone Uno.

All very welcoming places. Hunan may be a bit pricey, though, but it is excellent.

Thanks folks! That's a trip to the Tate planned 🙂

Will try the Italian ... unless there's any other suggestions?

Take dinner at the TATE or lunch is very nice
You could also go to Hoxton for the eve, nice and live'y and just
a inch away from the merchant Bankers pubs
Another good place to eat is Pizza East is a really good place to eat or graze and have a drink and not stupidly expensive

And if you run out of cash try the Beigel Bakery Been a reg aunt for me for many years, also open 24hrs there is another Beigel bakery three shops down that is equally good

Why would you want to go all the way across town right past the west end to Hoxton for a pizza?

Hi Sue, the regency cafe 5 mins walk from Victoria station does a top breakfast for a fiver. It's all original tiling inside & has been in loads of films, the photos inside show the famous clients. Exit Victoria Stn, walk down towards Houses of Parliament, at John Lewis HQ turn right & 5 mins away. You'll be fine on your own, it has a real mix of builders & city types inside.

Beigel bakery is nice but wrong end of town.

I'd go for a burger at Honest Burger in Soho (off wardour st), have a coffee after at Bar Italia, Frith st & see if you can get into Ronnie Scotts opposite. As a lone female you will deffo not get pestered in the area.

Good luck

OP, sorry just seen this.

We like The Orange on Pimlico Road (Sloane Square direction from Victoria) good atmosphere and food (pizzas are good). Sister Thomas Cubitt pub on Elizabeth St (bit more pricey and restaurant-ish), Street is nice with small shops good for a wander. Also have a wander up through Eaton Sq to Sloane Sq (if you stop for a drink in Botanist or Colbert's as a single women you'll get spoken to I am sure as they are singles type places).

For a museum/exhibtion head to National Gallery or National Portrait on Trafalgar Sq. You can try the cafe in the Crpyt at St Martins too. Tate Britain is a good recommendation.

What night are you in town ? If you want to meet up with my girlfriend and I drop me an email. I work v close to Victoria Stn.

I Went to the Regency for the first time ever for lunch a few weeks ago as I work just round the corner. It was brilliant (and awful, but mainly brilliant). The voice on that lady behind the counter!

ha ha, spot on re the serving lady's voice. We ate there twice last year & both occasions thought the chef behind was shouting out orders, looked round & saw it was a lady. Thought it a bit strange, anyway, I went to collect the breakfasts & she shouted again & I saw the lady & matched the voice.

Well worth a visit, as is Orange Brewery as above.
