A part from the obvious weight and charging capacity, something else i should look at before buying

Don't. They are mostly awful. Buy a decent usb battery that can give a couple of charges instead.

Love mine and have used on extended bicycle tours and its proved tough enough.

Spent a week in Wales and a week in Spain last year. On both occasions neither mine or the Mrs phone touched a mains socket, both phones charged within 1-2 hours in the morning.

Anker 21 watt solar panel.

DIY - one low dropout regulator, a few caps and a pair of 6-volt panels in series.... or was it parallel.... I forget. I stuck the PCB in a tiny tupperware and the panels to a sheet of cardboard set-up like a flip-phone case.

It's a good project and will charge a phone in a couple of hours of strong sun. Cost of parts was 7 pounds.
