sorry for the almost duplicate post...
David Bowie dies, we are treated to a hugely varied selection of amazing music on the radio
Mark E Smith dies and the future of Radio 6 in this office is hanging by a thread.
utter shite. I predict we will be back to R2 before 1500 at the current rate
When Elton John dies I'm moving to Greenland.
When the Vengaboys die I'm moving to Ibiza

I reckon there might be a bus going cheap to get you there.
really hadn't considered it from a different (genre) perspective.
did MagicFM go to town when H from steps died?

Ahh, the "reverse Cocker" - well played

I visited his grave. It was very sad

Nice that he's next to Steve Ray Vaughan.
It's what they would have wanted.
When Elton John dies I’m moving to Greenland.
By the time Elton dies we'll all have the ability to carry vast amounts of music around on portable devices, or beam it directly on demand from almost infinite virtual libraries. The idea of having to tune in to a particular station, at a certain time and listen to what some professional "disc jockey" decides to play will seem utterly laughable to us. In the future.
I always imagined that Mark E Smith would be someone you'd really enjoy punching if you met him in a pub.
Oh! soobalias doesn't like The Fall. waah! 6 Music is shite anyway, I'm sure it'll be improved by some Fall songs amongst the constant nattering.
DezBI’m sure it’ll be improved by some Fall songs amongst the constant nattering.
They did actual songs?
'When Elton John dies I’m moving to Greenland'.
When Elvis dies I'm moving to Graceland.
edit cos I can't work out how the quotes work!
Hmm David Bowie vs Mark E Smith
One made a career of reinventing himself as himself. The other made great music.

I shitting will be all over his RIP thread like diarrhoea!
I'm sure that to his family it must be a moment of great sadness. Same for all the rest of these famous names. To the rest of us. Who cares? Who was he anyway. Doubt it's worth a google.
Victoria was a great song. The did do some proper dirges though.
Can’t say I’m that traumatised by M E Smith’s passing, I don’t possess any Fall recordings, his rather idiosyncratic vocal mannerisms put me off most of their stuff, though not enough to turn the radio off if they’re played on 6 or wherever.
Well, Jeremy Vine played a Fall track this morning, which is probably a first on R2!
Marmite
I've not heard 6M today, the mawkishness after Bowie's death nearly had my radio out the window.
Might give it a listen later

My gosh, you're cool.
They lost their sparkle after Thatcher, for me. Although Her Majesty's may add some much needed pzazz
