Apollo (old) or CD6004 (new)?
Apollo would get my vote if you can live with its looks. But I have never listened to the more recent Marantz models. I had a Marantz CD63 SE which was and is still a fine player.

Why not have a listen to both and see which one you prefer?

No chance of listening to the Apollo sadly
There's an Apollo at CG Towers, it was recommended by a hifi expert from this Parish. It does run through a 30 year old amp. 😯

Why is there no chance of listening to it? I demo'd at a proper hifi shop, had to book in advance for them to set up.
I'd have a listen, Hifi isn't just about reproduction, every component sound a little different to the last. Take a flask to your local dealer and listen to a few.
