Our cat Jerry is having an operation, Its 50/50.

We have lost 4 cats in the past 6 years. I can't work out if were unlucky or cursed.

Fingers crossed for Jerry, (he's awesome a 9kg monster).

Good news! Jerry is out of his operation and the danger zone. Vets bill already up to £1500!

I'm not sure how insurance companies actually make any money (paid out £8k to the frodo family over the past 6 years!!)

Glad to hear that Frodo! 😀

Losing pets it a lot tougher that I thought it would be. I lost 3 in a 3 year period, so I know what its like.

Edit - my little cat only weighs 5.5 lbs. Yours could probably eat her for a snack.

Our current one is now 18, he's lost most of his teeth - just the one big pointy one left, he's had his thyroid removed and from being skin and bones is now looking a bit better.
He's obviously got some neurological problems as he has to turn around at least once before doing anything and he keeps falling off the chair arm
The vet doesn't think he's in any pain so we'll see how far he gets.

Any pics of this 9kg beast?

Glad he is ok.

EDIT: Surprised shibboleth hasn't been along to offer his services to save you on vets bills

He's never 9 kilos?! I was expecting a Maine coon monster.

Good to hear Jerry is out of the woods.

Just shown the pic to the gf and she wants to know where we can get one of those. 6kg is tops here

Lost ours just before Christmas. He did manage to last 19 years and 20 months so "not a bad innings" and all that.

Hope yours makes a speedy recovery. Healing vibes from our gerbils...

Ouch! Pretty nasty and can get serious quickly. Good job getting him in to the vets.

Hope he takes to the diet ok and stays clear of further blockages.

Glad to hear he's ok. One of ours likes climbing things, unfortunately he falls off occasionally.

(The other hates people and is quite camera shy.)

Timmy says 'Get Well Soon', but please rub my tummy (and if you rub it too much, I'll scratch/bite you, but won't give you a warning first!)

My cats are sending death vibes to a potential rival.

I, however, hope that Jerry gets better and retakes his position in the Frodo household.

Thanks for all the positive vibes. Me and Mrs Frodo visited Jerry in hospital today. He looked distinctly grumpy!

The levels of toxins in his body had however reduced from 'off the scale' to above normal. So at least his kidneys still work. Not out of the woods quite yet as he may need another operation to allow him to pee. He's currently being emptied by the nurses 4 times a day!

Cheers, Frodo

The cat that we had when I was growing up had urinary tract issues. He had to take pills (fun!) and had to be on a certain type of food. Once in a while, he'd still have a problem, but he lived a long life. I think he was about 17 when kidney failure meant he had to be euthanized, so yours may have many years ahead of him.
