CATS Mountain Bike Club are organising a Midlands MBO & BMBO 3 hour mountain bike orienteering event on The Ridgeway near Wantage, Oxon.

You can find out more information and enter here: CATS MBC

This is a new area for the club to organise in but not a new area for them to ride.
It would be great to see a new face or 2.

I'll be there! (barring injury or illness).

Don't think I've ridden that area before so will be a test of navigation skills rather than memory. Will it be SI controls or MapRun?

I wonder what the STWer / MBOer Venn diagram overlap looks like? There must be a few of us on here?

We sometimes do MBO, mostly a bit further north (yorks/lakes). Not so much recently, various reasons...

Was a time I used to do most of the MBO rounds (I even took the trophy one year). Unfortunately Covid and an E-bike (and advancing years) have meant I have found it hard to get back into the sport. I keep telling myself to get fit and get back into it. Easier said than done. To go from the expectation of a top 5 finish at any event to the thought of being an also-ran fills me with fear 🙁

@welshfarmer , you could enter the ebike class (I suspect you might win it).

Haha I don't reckon an Ebike is up to the job Si. I sometimes managed to ride 70 km on 3 hour Midlands events with an average speeds equivalent to what an E-bike will do on the flat tops. Nope. Got to get fit. Been back on the peddler a few times lately, just need to stick at it.

As the BMBO payment system is currently off line I have made the payment zero so riders can enter and pay on the day.
There will be NO on the day payment surcharge.

I must not forget my dibber! (I've grown accustomed to not needing one for recent events)
