You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I'm not as tech-savvy as I used to be, so bear with me.
I've got a Windows 10 laptop and Android phone & tablet. A couple of Tellys, which may be smart (as earlier this year I was amazed when my grandson was looking at a Youtube video on the laptop then got it to show on the TV. I also have a fairly recent Roku on one of the TVs. No chromecast.
I'm currently getting my Pilates lessons over Facebook and I'd prefer to show them on the TV as my laptop screen only works when you're looking straight on. Hard to see what's going on when you alternate between lying on the floor and standing up. I'm also doing Justin Guitar (and watching some other videos that aren't on YouTube - amazing what you find yourself doing during lockdown!).
So other than sticking an HDMI cable in (and I'm not sure that would work as my local PC shop has managed to disable the F keys) what's the best way to mirror the screens without losing too much picture quality?

Stick an HDMI cable in.
Unless your extending the screen then no F keys are required (even then you can do it by right clicking on the desktop and changing the screen settings without F keys)

Start key (the one with the Windows logo on it) + P will bring up the projector options.
No chromecast.
Or get Chromecast.
Using my Samsung android tablet for exactly this purpose. It has a function called "smart view", or something like that. Click it, it finds the telly and you click to mirror the screen. The same function on my android phone is called "cast".
Been using it for YouTube exercise vids, Zoom meetings etc. A doddle to use and great doing Zoom on a 55inch TV.
With an Android phone or tablet drag down from the top and tap 'smart screen' if you have a smart TV there should be an option for screen sharing these will then link together and display your phone/tablet on your telly.
Thanks all. I'm getting there. My tablet allows me to mirror to Roku even though my phone doesn't. I'm surprised because my phone is newer and with later Android.
I'll keep experimenting.
After much buggering about I've ordered a Chromecast from Argos that should be delivered tomorrow. Justin Guitar and Pilates will now get the home they deserve.
Does Chromecast work with laptops or only Android devices such as phones and tablets?
If you have Chrome installed you can cast your laptop desktop, software like VLC video player can cast directly too. Usually works but sometimes has me wishing I just plug in hdmi.
