need a new vehicle for myself.
don't want car, don't need a van size.
room for 2 bikes is good, but I want a large driver space.
idea's greatly appreciated.
Mondeo, even has enough room for you.
SMax (I have one, can't comment on anything else though). Loads of head room. I'm 5'11" and there are a good few inches above my head. Lots of shoulder space too.
Can sling a 29" full susser in the back in one go. With wheels and seat posts out you will get 2 in stood up and all of your kit easily.
In 3 years it has been bomb proof. Getting about 41 mpg from a 1.8 diesel.
6ft5" with a seat altea. there is even space behind my drivers seat for the kids!
Skoda Superb FTW
How new / old?
I own the older model (which isn't quite as roomy for the driver without a bit of surgery with a spot weld drill) but the 2004 - 2010 Astra van is very roomy for tall drivers (i'm 6'6"), and fits two bikes in the back
Some of the other small vans (berlingo etc) suffer from not getting a full range of seat adjustment because of the bulkhead so not as roomy as the car variants.
Similarly a lot of estates - you don't get the full range of seat adjustment with the rear seats folded.
Altea XL
SMAX
Golf+
Skoda Superb, it'd fit you even in the back no problem.
Berlingo. Massive head room. Wasted on me mind.
Berlingo. Massive head room
Loads of headroom but legroom is only OK in the MK1 versions, and gets a bit cramped if you fold the seats rather than take them out. I've only driven the van versions of the MK2 and the bulkhead intrudes a bit and pedal position is a bit weird as a result. Car versions might get better adjustment though.
Honda civic - I had a 2006 a few years back. Massive leg and head room, back seat folds down flat and will swallow you and wor lasses bikes, and a load of kit, for your touring jaunts.
lots of idea's for cars coming. not many for 'don't want a car'.
😀
It says 'car' in the thread title btw
Your pickings are going to be pretty limited on the 'not as big as a van' front. Because small CDVs and medium sized cars are sold on load space - so they tend to cheat a bit of space out the cab to achieve it.
Not-cars with good leg room are Mk 5 Astra Van on the smaller size, Old Shape Vivaro, on the larger. Maybe a Scudo/Dispatch/Expert in the middle.
^correction to my post above^
that should read "small CDVs and medium sized vans are sold on load space"
Skoda Roomster?
Doblo estate, me mates a 26 stone fatknacker and swears by them
In all seriousness ton, you thought about a pickup? Navara, hilux etc?
Navara, hilux etc?
Can't comment on a Navara but the Hilux is for midgets
I'm 5' 9" and have my seat a fair way back in my Amarok. My Ranger and Hilux were the same.
And navaras drive like Soviet era Belarus tractors
And it's a navara.
I have 13 plate Doblo, moving to it from an 05 Berlingo. I was initially slightly intimidated by the vast space in the Doblo cockpit.
