Car suspension.
Surrey County Council have done their best to wreck my front suspension on my Civ, although sadly I can't prove which pot holes have done it to claim (other than all of them).
Anyway, need fixing and just wondering (for those who don't DIY), what kind of places people go for to do this stuff. e.g. main dealer, local independent, or a chain shock/exhaust kind of place (except Kwik Fit. I will not ever go into one of their places ever again)?
Or a mobile repair dude who comes out to do them worth a go? Can they do shocks on your driveway or place of work?
Honda do fixed price repairs at their main dealers, they can actually be pretty competitive. Worth comparing with someone local on https://www.goodgaragescheme.com/ though.
Locally recommended indie.
Local indie.
Not even an easy DIY necessarily, I've done quite a few BMWs that were straightforward but my wife's Passat was a pig. On another car I could see straight away that it would be difficult and didn't even try; gave it to someone else to do.
whocanfixmycar.com is a good place to put a job out for quote, have successfully used the service for a couple of things that are best left to the professionals

Hi-five on Good Garage Scheme. Found a local family run independent that was top rated on there, reviews match up to the experience I had which was very good, and prices were pretty good too. Plus a lot more convenient for me than the Honda places which are all in awkward places.

Just an FYI. You can use that big round thing in front of you to avoid holes in the road. If nessesary you can push a pedal on the left just under your foot to slow the car down. Hopefully this should help in future once you have the car fixed again.
Hope that helps.

What a useless post to make.
Actually I drive through as many potholes and bumps as I can, because its such a joy replacing knackered shock absorbers, broken springs, knackered balljoints, drop links and bushes. 🙄

I might just be a cynical old goat but from a quick look at the website it seems that all of them have 5 star ratings.
I always think that if your business needs to be on websites like that then you don't have a good "word of mouth" reputation.
My local independent has been excellent for the last 6 years. It was recommended by a neighbour when we first moved here,
Bigyinn. Just saying.
I used to live in the same area and commuted 15 k a year in a sports car with 35 series tyres. I never smashed any of the components you mention.
Try not hitting stuff, it held a great deal.

Agreed, TRY not hitting stuff. Its not always possible to avoid potholes when theres oncoming traffic etc.
Theres a round bit up the road from me, I've spotted two broken bits of coil spring lying in the gutter in the last 3 months.

If you've seen the roads round here there's no avoiding them. They're not so much potholes as massive chasms across the whole road. As said, with oncoming traffic you can't avoid them either, unless you are happy to come to a total stop every 10 metres and wait 5 minutes until you can go around the hole, or crawl through it at 5mph.
Oh, and the ones that usually catch me out the worst are on rounding a bend in the dark and BAM! Can't see the thing in time.
There's an exception though. Anywhere on the Ride London route. Funny that it seems to get nice resurfacing each year 😉

Maybe so, but I've had many word of mouth recommendations from friends and neighbours of particular garages they use and yet had shit service from the same places.
Given the history of this particular place though, predating the Internet by a long way, and their success, I suspect word of mouth also exists. Besides that, from my experience so far I'm very impressed and would be happy to recommend them by word of mouth.
