My car is approaching its second birthday. The local main dealer phoned to offer a service which I declined. They just texted me a reminder that it needs the brake fluid replacing. Two years, remember.
Is this something new I don't know, or is it on the far side of just being careful, getting rather close to making work?
Oh, and Citroen Berlingo, 36k miles in case it matters.
All manufacturers spec brake fluid at 2 years as it's hydroscopic.
I tend to do my own ooooh about 3 or 4 years normally when changing something. Doing it regularly helps prevent seized brakes as the moisture condensates and causes internal corrosion apparently.
OK, I've been living dangerously since the seventies. Thanks.
Does a Berling0 go fast enough to need brakes?
On the one I had the bleed nipples had seized due to lack of action. It was only 4 years old.
Seized bleed nipples?.....if only you'd had the brake fluid changed!!

Hygroscopic.
A hydroscope is used for looking underwater.
VW/Skoda specify first brake fluid change at 3 yrs then every 2 thereafter.
