Brilliant. used it for all sorts of things. Once got pulled over by the police with NINE people in it. Amazingly they let me carry on! USed it to travel (from Wigan) to metallica gigs in Birmingham and Glasgow on consecutive nights. Engine the size of a peanut.
Like driving a roller skate. Great fun!

Never owned a 2CV but drove one loads as it was a work car used for ferrying stuff around the park I worked in. Culminated in trying to drive on HM Highways with a trailer piled very high of picnic tables. Terrifying.
The one memory I have of it was the gearstick waving approximately out of the dashboard with no seemingly obvious sequence of gears - just pull, push, twist and wave until it felt approximately like the gear was right. Ish.

anyone able to stick pics up for me? poor skills in this area.
Caterham 7
Imprezza
VW camper
Dolly sprint
But probably my favourite was my MkIV spitfire - no need to go over 50, in fact it was terrifying to do so, would understeer, oversteer and 4 wheel drift all in legal limits
not a car but my t5 van has changed my life. sad but true. 😀
My first car, Fiat Panda 750 and my current wheels, my Vito Van.
Both have given me great independance and adventures.
"But probably my favourite was my MkIV spitfire - no need to go over 50, in fact it was terrifying to do so, would understeer, oversteer and 4 wheel drift all in legal limits"
Yep I dont get cars these days that have so much grip, older cars allowed you to have fun at safer speeds (Cappuccino above) 🙂

Never mind hairdressers, apparently a friend's leg-waxer had one just like mine. :ooops: Lease car not owned, so I gave it back before it had a chance to break down.
Current t4 2.5tdi caravelle is pretty slow in comparison but drives nice enough and perversely cheaper to run than the car ^^ half its size...and unbelievably useful with the back row of seats out.
and no i haven't 'christened it'. Yet.
54 plate Civic type-R for me. Never missed a beat in the four years I had it. The sound it made when you hit 6000rpm and the vtech kicked in was somthing else.
A bog standard 1.3 Ford KA. Not fast, not glamerous but I have never driven anything better in the snow. Thin tyres all sat in the corners, rubber bumpers and not huge amounts of torque meant many a happy hour sliding around Clent on snow covered roads.
Other than an Austin Metro and a Rover 214 - I've enjoyed all the cars I've owned.
VW Beetle(s)
MGB
Golf GTi
Mondeo V6
I think I had the pleasure of meeting your Corrado on a Peaks ride?
Whats wrong with it?
Hora, wasn't me (but might have been the car and previous owner).
Suspected crank bolt failure = bent valves and new engine time
1.0l mini
vauxhall Nova GTE. I'll never forget that car, it was a true pocket rocket.
I'd like to add my Puma but I'm unsure whether it is better than my MX5, somehow I feel abit of sacrilege.
ooh i had a 106 rallye... so much fun... shame it fell apart.
without a shadow of a doubt the best car I have owned was a civic Type R... much better than the golf GTI mkv1 I had after it.
**** 🙁
306gti - a fab handling car - the only car I've owned I would go the long way round on trip to go round extra roundabouts.
Three XM 24v - quirkyness personified.
Peugeot 205 GTI 1.6
Drove the wheels off the muther to the point where I kept popping the spot welds at the base of the 'B' Pillar.
Just the best hot hatch, EVER !.
😉
couple of mentions for the CTR (Type R). Should I?
Without question the best I've owned, and used as my only car for 2 years

Funky I drove a mk3 against a mk2.5 and the mk3 left me cold. It would be great on a long distance motorway journey but thats the only area it beat the mk2.5 (Soundly) on. Everywhere else the mk2.5 was amazing- utterly so. I remember a few times giggling driving the mk2.5 😀
@ Hora yes you should! but not the latest shape, it has to be the EP3. or a JDM FD2. just the best... teh mkvi golf GTI comes close because f it selectronic slip dif thingy... but I'd go for the civic. I currently own the UK FN2 and its shit... however those first ones were animals.
rewski, I like.
The first M3 is an Evolution II (220bhp), the other two are the standard (195bhp) version. These have the most comunicative and responsive steering and have a wonderfully supple suspension whilst still giving little body roll. Whilst not that powerfull by modern stardards the chassis and exhaust/induction noise more than made up for that. I actually prefer driving left hand drive cars and wish I still had all of them. You could buy a decent one for £5k five years ago, now you have to spend at least £10k
Mark 6 Escort RS2000. This has got to be one of the most underated hot hatches, with a aftermarket exhaust and some induction mods it sounded like an old BDA engined Escort and with uprated suspension the handling was really good aswell. Very comfortable Recaro seats aswell.
I loved my 69 beetle, until the windscreen wipers packed in, the heating stop working and the spare tyre rotted through the floor. The glove box was perfect rolling camberwell carrots though.
*Back in 80s
Austin Maxi 1, £300 with years MOT, drove from Reading to Twickers every day for year, never serviced, just kept topping oil, it blew up 2 days before MOT expired. (*You could get a XR200 or DT175 motorbike in back). Nice scrappie gave me £20 and lifted it out of street. Once I came out of office and it was gone, old lady told me the workmen had moved it 100yds up road as they were tarring, no probs. Other time, pissing down, rushed out, unlocked door, started it up and then realised that the steering wheel was furry covered, my car was 2 cars further up.... no probs
Austin Maxi 2, £300 with years MOT, ran it as above, and then on MOT expiry sold it to a scrapper for £30. Two weeks later mtbing in the shrubbery, going past some council semis this bloke ran up to me waving, it was the scrappie, there was the car - windows/lights etc out, acro props holding roof and sills apart etc etc, he'd won a £50 trphy banger racing in it, he was well pleased.
Gachet,
I remember driving back from a rave in Hull at about 4AM on a totally deserted M62. A red M3 Evo came past at some speed, incredible car.
Austin Maxi - please tell me they were 1750 twin carb models - one of the fastest family cars around at the time - 91bhp 🙂
We (me and my big bro') transplanted a carb from one into our Mini 1000 - it went quicker than a 1275GT but fuel consumption was equally rapid so we took it off 🙂
There do not appear to be many people who have ever owned a rear wheel drive car..you dont know what your missing!
Hora - I know what you mean I had never driven an MX5 before getting the Mk3, but obviously knew of the reputation. After getting the suspension and geometry sorted it handled beautifully, but it just as you say left you a bit cold 🙁
Drove a work colleagues Mk 2.5 very briefly and you could tell it had that spark and directness that the Mk3 just will never have 🙁
1979 Mk 2 RS2000. Still wish I had it. Been looking at the prices to buy one recently 😯
Recently purchased a Clio 172 for not a lot of money, just for having fun in, trackdays etc, so much fun, great handling, currently sat on my driveway looking very sorry for itself with a broken clutch and no interior 😥
Sadly can't see it getting used again for the next 6 months or so, but it will be a little weapon by the time next years track day season rolls around 😈
The beetle was the original rear wheel car 😉
My current 53 plate Skoda Fabia. It's only little, 1.2 engined, but it's the first truly reliable car I've owned, the first I've spent proper money on (£3.5k a year ago with sub 20k on the clock). After a string of max £300 junkers none of which lasted more than 18 months, it's a breath of fresh air.
It isn't fast (gets to 60 eventually)
It isn't fancy (most basic trim spec)
But it gets me where I'm going in reasonable time, doesn't consume like a Geordie on snakebite, and is cheap to tax and insure. Nae revelations, but I'm glad I own it.
I've owned some good cars and some nice cars, but cars I'm glad I've owned (past tense) include an Austin Allegro (in beige) and a Morris Ital.
We had lots of fun in those cars as teenagers but they made me appreciate the good cars and nice cars all the more!

Can't be faffed looking for pics of them but N reg Escort, 01 Corsa SXI, 05 Civic Sport, Eunos S-Special, boggo Eunos, Mondeo ST TDCI, Eunos S-Special, Polo GTI, Octavia vRS wagon. MX5 #4 coming next year.
Some really nice cars poping up, especially the M3's!
The car I most wish I'd never sold, Integra Type R DC2. Amazing.
[img] [/img]
Before that I had a few other good un's.
BMW 525i Sport. Aged 19 it was good fun.
[img] [/img]
Another under rated hot-hatch of the time. Almera GTi. Bombproof reliability and pretty nippy.
[/img]
And while it wasn't the best car I have owned, by quite a long way it was a nice feeling to have 270 bhp on tap... even if it was semi-automatic and a bit too electronic for my liking.
[/img]
Also owned an MX5 which I thought was seriously over-rated. Suzuki Swift Sport was nice, but too expensive to run for what it was. Current car is a Mondeo ST TDCi and it is the best all-rounder I've ever had.
There do not appear to be many people who have ever owned a rear wheel drive car..you dont know what your missing!
+1
My Midget's handling is pretty 'basic', some might say worn out, but at least it's not got the 101 quirks of modern FWD cars power steering and servo brakes! lift of the accelerator and new cars direction all by themselves, downshift whilst brakeing and the brake pedal alternately pushes back then sinks into the carpet as the monifold pressure changes, grrrrrrrr.
Midget's rock!*
*other tiny RWD cars are available, buy one!
There do not appear to be many people who have ever owned a rear wheel drive car
Racks brain....
Nope, don't think I have, but I used to drive my dad's 2.0 Ghia Cortina which was nice. I wanted a BMW 3 series (335) specifically for the RWD but couldn't afford it and ended up with a TT which is still nice 🙂 Goes back in 20 days 🙁 not nice
EDIT:
My mk1 Escort 1.3l was RWD 🙂
It also had a removable gearstick which I held in place with matchsticks jammed in the bushing 🙂
My absolute favourite car, (not this exact one, don't have a photo convenient to hand), broke my heart to get rid of it.

[/img]
Had one of these for a while. Loved the shape, mine was this colour, but then resprayed metallic black. '74 Opel Manta, and wouldn't mind another, space and cash allowing.
[/img]
my first car was one of these, followed by a second one. Fantastic little car, the second one had a 1300 engine, a van rear axle, Riley drum brakes on the front, Koni shocks, and 5x13" eight spoke alloys, with reclining buckets. Had so much fun in this little car, driving and... otherwise.
Someone drove into the back of it outside the house.
Weirdly I've never had the money to buy a car I actually like!
Too many Peugeots and Fiat Uno are all the cars I've ever owned. Currently thinking of a move to a Civic type R, just working out whether to go for the new type (lower mileage and hopefully lower maint but more up front cost) vs an older (04/05 plate) - I know they are different animals but they are apparently far superior. But then how can even the new shape not be superior to a 206?

In no particular order:
Escort Mk1 RS1800
Escort Mk3 RS1600
Triumph Dolomite Sprint
Talbot Sunbeam Lotus
Ford Fiesta Supersport
Saab 900 Carlsson
Group N spec Astra GTE
Impreza STI
Enjoyed each of these
Mini 1000
Nissan Micra
Toyota Carena Estate
Nissan Sunny ZX
Mazda MX5
Toyota Rav4
Toyota Picnic
Mazda MX3
Peugeot 307cc
Peogeot 308cc
205 GTI was a sad loss, but sooooo much fun, used to enjoy racing mates on the moors
My MkII Golf. Pure motoring perfection.
My first Volvo. A lovely 940 Wentworth. What a luxo-barge!
audi quattro - gives me an excuse to drive like a ****
Managed to get all of the following airborn on numerous occasions:
- Jaguar X-type estate 3.0 V6
- Peugeot 306 XSi (both of them)
- Daihatsu Charade GTTi (a mental car 993cc and 0-60 in 7.5secs)
8)
Pug 306 GTI6.
Fast, subtle and fun. Those poor BMW's didn't have a clue what it was.
Renault 6 with an 850cc engine - surprising what you could make it do, but most fun when the suspension had gone and it just bounced all the time 😀
Bregante - I think that's possibly the nicest car in this thread, simply a beauty.

Along with various minis and a TI Sunbeam back in the 80's. Now a Volvo estate driver!
309gti 1.9 - unlike the 205 it actually kept all four wheels on the ground when cornering (hard)
405Mi16 - looked like a mini-cab, went like stink
and quite attached to my current 535i
The car I sort of regret selling was my MR2, pretty sad when that was driven away by it's new owner. It was a Jap import turbo version with a custom interior. A great car to drive and much quicker than the UK version.

Replaced with a Westfield, which was great fun (and very glad I have had chance to own) but it had to go once kids arrived.

Luckily the replacement 'family' car was something I had always wanted to own.

For some reason the cars I have now have seem to be proper family motors. 🙁
Corrado Vr6
Golf GTI MK1 MK2 MK3's x8
Renault 5Gt Turbo
Pug 205 GTI
Scirocco
The Jettas
The "Bling" Berlingo
Cool's cars of my yoof, im glad i owned them as good examples of these cars are hard to come by now, there have been loads more but these spring to mind.
Got a Fabia vRS that i love.
