annual mileage : 130,000 (70% motorway, 30% A-B-City roads)

prefers the quick in and out overtaking in motorways and slip roads, this is very important for me.

If you are doing 130k a year, the diesel, but I guess that's a typo? If it is, I would at least get a 5.

Are you talking new, used, cash, lease, pcp, company?

crikey! 😯 sorry... 13k miles annual.

i'm getting approved used in my local BMW dealer, they always have loads of low mileage parked in there. (still undecided between saloon and touring though M-sport preferable 😐 )

13k miles I would get the petrol, although it may cost you more if you are financing over 3 years.

If you are going used why don't you get a 6 pot and slightly older, nearly news will normally work out more expensive than a deal you will get off a new one.

If you get a saloon make sure you have folding seats option ticked otherwise they are fixed.

If cloth seats, avoid the pale colours

Sounds like a more sensibly place to put the money, a 10 plate will be an E90 though, but I don't think thats an issue, better value certainly

by chance you know any mechanical gremlins from E90 that affects the 330d? timing chain etc etc

Check for oil leaks and glow pugs, if it's a low mile 6 year old car check DPF. The later engines were fitted with the newer flaps that are much less likely to fail and came with vortex breather.

Expect the usual build up of gunk due to low intervals in-between changes.

Generally pretty built proof, and if buying approved used you will get a warranty that will take car of anything big

I had a e90 320d tourer, which was great but the turbo blew on it which I believe is a common fault on the 320 Diesel engine, not sure if it's the same turbo they use on the 330d? I think the 330d is a twin turbo, so maybe not?

No the m57 uses a different setup, certainly doesn't have the reliability history of the 320d in terms of lunching turbos.

I purchased a 530d msport touring a few years back and have always paid for the extended warranty each year and have always got my money's worth each year.

These are not bullet proof by any means. It has only let me down once but the amount of oil leaks, heated rear window not working, gearbox leaks, etc etc over 4 years has been quite incredible. I have probably had about 6k worth of warranty work in that period

Engine in 330d is the same as mine 3 litre 6 cylinder single turbo. Only the 535d or 335d have twin turbos

I only do 10k per year so next time round would probably get a petrol car
