I am on the look out for a carry on bag for flying with. Ideally I would want it to be able to hold enough stuff for a week (not bike stuff, just normal clothes etc) to avoid having to pay the ridiculous hold luggage charges.

I have seen the osprey far point 40l and that looks nice. Is there anything else which is similar but a bit cheaper?

Alpkit do some great duffle bags which may fit the bill. I've got the DryDock 50 which is well made. I haven't used it for flights yet, but it's a great weekend/week bag.

I have Tatonka (but older model) flight case like this one. Light (1400g only and tough. Dimensions: 55 x 37 x 20 cm

The size is just right to comply with majority of the airlines. (watch out for Ryanair as their carry on rule is small)

If I were to buy another or upgrade I will buy the above.

I use a Cotopaxi Allpa 35 which gets in what I need for a week. I'll be using it later this month for a week of working in NY, then a week for work in Singapore in April.
