Are they supposed to leave a mess and four large bags of rubbish behind?
If they left 4 large bags of rubbish surely they tidied up their mess?
Last time I had carpets fitted, May this year, the guys took their off cuts away, they didn't generate any other rubbish.
Carpet fitted about 4 weeks ago, in the box room.
Wife was home, I was at work. I saved a bit of cash by binning/removing the old carpet and taking up all the tack boards. Came back to a leftover roll of carpet (that we asked for), and a few short carpet fibres knocking about. Did a pretty good job all considering, but it's a pretty easy one for them to do
Sounds like a poor show
Depends if you made them a cuppa or not
Did you pay to have the old carpet and offcuts removed ? Just had a carpet done and they wanted 20quid to take all that away.....eh naw...
Brand new house,mo facilities and no old carpet to take.Surely you tidy up and take your rubbish away. What am I supposed to do with it.
It's a problem that the fitters are probably just that, they don't have a commercial disposal agreement to get rid of the waste. While they can't legally take it to a household waste site, you could (assuming you have a vehicle).
If they added 50 quid to each job then they'd be out of work pretty quick as everyone goes on just price.

Post it to them.
Brush it under that lovely new carpet.
What am I supposed to do with it.
Take it to the local tip?
I've never met a carpet fitter that takes the offcuts.
They don't belong to them, they'll be paid to deliver/fit and that's all.
keep it to one side and next time you get junk mail or other carp through the letterbox with a prepaid envelope. Chuck it in a box or secure bag etc.., stick on the prepaid envelope and drop it off at the post office 😆
A little inconvenient yes, but not as inconvenient as it will be for the recipient and they'll get billed.
Where Mrs Carlos works, someone sent an old SKY Tv box. I proper lol'ed when she told me.
You might call it their waste. I'd say it's your carpet.
Lol @ Carlos, thats a great idea!!
last time i had carpet fitters they said that they wouldnt take the old carpet away just in case it had bugs and they didnt want old carpets to mix with new ones in their van
They can't take it away unless they have a waste carriers licence (They won't have one).
Did you book them directly or through a company? if through a company they'll be more than likely subbies, who get around £20-£30 a room, that doesn't cover disposal.
It's your carpet, not their mess. You could try taking it up with the company?
Some carpets fitted recently in a house I'm getting redone.
Both carpet shop and fitter combined.
They did quote to take the old stuff away -- as above, waste disposal costs at local dump on liveried vans. I agreed to that, on basis the carpets were quite big and I was pretty busy.. But I don't think actually got billed for that bit in the end..
As i dont have a waste transporters licence, and customers dont want to pay extra to have the waste taken away by me to a licenced tip site, where i will be charged a set amount for arriving plus the weight of materials, the waste its the customers waste from their product theyve had fitted.
and to use a local tip site as an individual, with a van you require a permit that only allows you to dispose of non trade waste.
So basicly you bought the carpet and the off cuts are your waste product, the carpet fitter didnt leave you any of their rubbish/waste.

That is the answer
