Just received my order of the latest late night tales by Don Letts...vinyl and CD.
The series are always well put together and this one is another cracker.

What mixes/compilations have people discovered recently that are really well crafted and put together?

One of my favourite comps of all time is James Holden - At The Controls. It's dance music focused, but shifts so effectively through genres on the way through, including dub, ambient, krautrock and indie. Brilliantly crafted.

Not recently discovered, but recently rediscovered (as in I've just had a rummage in the cd drawers and promised myself I'll play an actual physical recording for once):

Hip hop, don't stop - Mixed by DJ Prime Cuts

And 3 Oakenfold albums:

Global underground - Live in Oslo (containing the excellent Jamie Myerson, Music for the lonely)

Global underground - New York

Perfecto Fluoro (with the also excellent Wojciech Kilar , Love Remembered)

I used to love the Back to Mine compilations for getting in after a night out.

I just need a night out now.

Lots of the back to mine are great…

My favourite is the Pet Shop Boys one… they do a disc each, and they couldn’t be more different… think Saturday night, Sunday morning.

Andy Weatherall’s “Nine O’clock Drop” is a great selection that evokes a very particular time (that you can still enjoy if you weren’t old enough to catch it first time around).

For something more odd and folky, check out Finders Keepers “Make do & Mend” series, they’re all good, especially the Jarvis Cocker compiled one.

I keep getting a slight urge to re-listen to all of Deep Heat 3 the third degree recently.

Ah good shout on the back to mine. O don't have many of those as I think I'd gone down the Another Late Night and Late Night Tales route. The Morcheeba back to mine I do have and is a favourite.

I'll def check out the pet shop boys one!

I love the Late Night Tales series, the Jon Hopkins and the At The Movies albums are two of my all time favourites.

I love them so much in fact that I had a go at putting together some similar stuff of my own.

Martin Freeman and Eddie Piler's Jazz on the Corner series are really great compilations of some lesser heard jazz tracks from throughout the years and are well worth a listen.
