I lived in Braemar at the time I joined the forum, most definitely a local village for local people, I'm not local. I live in Ballater now, so no need to update my name.

Was my first online username in 96 and has stuck around since.

Fat, Scottish and my nickname was/is Nanny, named after the giant chicken thing in Count Ducula that smashes into stuff and breaks everything. No similarities with me at all...

From a Russell Hoban poem someone rather rudely sent me, when I first learned to ride 🙁

Esmé on Her Brother’s Bicycle
One foot on, one foot pushing,
Esmé starting off beside
Wheels too tall to mount astride,
Swings the off leg forward featly,
Clears the high bar nimbly, neatly,
With a concentrated frown,
Bears the upper pedal down
As the lower rises, then
Brings her whole weight round again,
Leaning forward, gripping tight,
With her knuckles showing white,
Down the road goes, fast and small,
Never sitting down at all.

Still not nimble or neat, but definitely cracked the "knuckles showing white" bit 😀

Because I used to spend way too much time bike fettling in the garage and Mrs g-d used to threaten I could live down there with my snoring. The garage has since been replaced with a nice wooden workshop.

Pre hack 3milestoqep was how far it was too cycle through buriton to the back door to queen Elizabeth country park. Although I moved 10 miles south just a few months after choosing the name. 🙄

At the time of the forum crash I was using my old business name, so wanted a change anyway.

Was going to do something single speedy, but I figured I was getting old and frail and would need gears soon.

If I'm not SSing I like hub gears (epicyclic gears), hence "epicyclo".

After the hack I wanted a change. They wouldn't let me rejoin as deathtoeveryone so I had to come up with something else.

I love Cat Power and metal heart is one of my favourite songs.

If you know the lyrics, it kind of tells you everything you'll need to know about me.

Interestingly, when I'd forgotten my password, when I put in my email address it thought I was called deathtoeveyone after all. Which was a bit annoying truth be told. Then they banned me....

It was the make of my long term bike, Coyote Dual. The bike has recently been retired but kinda got used to the name. Use it online for most things where an alias is required.

Well, more of a small pointy thing, like a thorn. If you had a particularly small one then it may be called that. It's not a compliment 🙂

Pre-hack it was my name. When we all had to re-register, I thought it good practice to use a pseudonym to make phishing harder.

Amongst my regular MTB peer group, I am the only professional scientist and have a moderately analytical approach to problems and vocalising my thought process, including mechanicals and riding in general.

Hence the friendly pisstake 'thank you for the explanation Scienceofficer Burgess.'

We also have a creativeofficer in the group who does all our Jersey designs and has a real creative job too.

It's only really an MTB moniker. Everywhere else on line, I'm bUMJAR. Deliberate letter case.

I thought it was a 'funny' slight mispronunciation on Wales' best MTB place, but its a crappy name really.

What was "mastyles fanylion" (IIRC) all about? That one had me wondering.

Its just a amalgam of a couple of Latin words that sounded good together,

now my main email address that's a more long winded tale...

A-A has admitted that before and its a very clever name. Hopefully not really banned

Me it was a Poker name - it was essentially given by a guy who would just give folk a poker name - we never even played poker.

Needed something on here - no one ever called me that ever - and for some reason used that

Been called it by folk who I only meet for STW rides but not really used anywhere but here.
