I  am in need of a new battery for my caravan. Should I buy a AGM or a Gel battery. 100 ah. I have looked at Tayna, are there any other places to try? I would like a decent battery without going over the top on price.

I thought some of that depends on the charger/ electric system?

I looked at various things and ended up at local supplier and bought a Yausa lead-acid battery for about £5 more than online.

Iirc:

Gel advantage was more around sealing and being in boats etc. No performance advantage.

AGM lasts longer and slightly deeper discharge. But costs more, a fair bit more.

Lithium - much more capacity and lighter, but expensive and needed a better/different charger I think

As above, a gel battery would be totally wasted on a caravan.... Unless you intend pulling it over cratered fields at 50mph!

Thank you for for clearing up the Gel battery issue. I had seen a caravan which was very up together and the owner had one which he was very proud of. Maybe he got it at a good price!

You can get a LiFePo4 (Lithium) battery with 1/2 the weight, 50% greater depth of discharge (usable capacity) and double the service life for for about 50% more quid. Yes, you will need a compatible charger, they start at less than 100 quid.
