Any one any idea roughly how much it would cost to have a wheel bearing replaced on my car? I know it depends on what the garage charges per hour for the work, but anyone with recent figures for me? Is it a big job?

Thanks,

Stu.

Usually about £70+ dependant on car. Our polo used to cost us £70 but the Fabia is £80. Not a big job if you have the tools. Getting the bearing in and out is the challenge. Shaking it about though is easy enough 😉

What car ?
Mondeo rear takes 15mins for instance, (is a seperate hub unit that just unbolts).
Fronts generally more difficult as ball joints need cracking to get the suspension leg/hub off, then usually a press to get the new ones in. Going to be looking an hours labour at least I reckon.

As above, depends on which car, plus other factors.

On some cars you can just buy the bearing, on others you have to buy the complete hub assembly. Anything from £15 upwards tbh.

Oh, & it's worth getting a price from your local motor factors, they ususally work out cheaper than the main dealers.

- however, the cheapest I could get hold of one was £50 on ebay. Like you say, it's a whole hub unit including ABS sensor. Proving it's not always the labour cost that gets you.
