If I charge a phone in the car or van, using a cheapy plug in charger in the fag lighter socket and a USB cable, I get really bad interference on the radio. Anything I can do/attach/buy to stop this happening? It's really annoying, especially on long journeys when I want the phone plugged in to power the screen for Google Maps.

FWIW, in the van the radio is entirely powered by the leisure battery, not the vehicle battery. The fag lighter socket is powered by the vehicle battery.

A ferrite core around the cable. About two quid.

Which cable? The USB lead to the phone, or the power cable to the fag lighter (or the radio?)

The charger cable. As close to the cheapy USB adapter as possible.
