Anybody used reducedmyexcess or similar car (or van) hire to reduce the excess on their car/van hire insurance.
Looking at reduce my excess and I don’t understand the terms and conditions.
The first clause on page 8 seems to say that the cover only applies if you pay for at the point of hire for the additional cdw insurance to reduce the excess (which seems a bit off given the insurance is to reduce the excess)
The clause on P8 is basically that you must have paid for insurance against the loss; the policy you are buying here is then insurance against the excess on that insurance.
In the UK it's generally the default that the insurance against the loss is included, but it is possible to rent vehicles with no insurance cover at all. The clause just tries to make this clear.
Typically:
CDW (collision damage waiver) = "basic cover" that's included in a UK rental agreement, that leaves you liable for the first £x000 - i.e. the excess
SCDW (super CDW) = "full protection" that a rental company will try to sell you when you pick up the vehicle, that leaves you with a reduced liability (possibly to £0).
Hopefully it doesn't affect you, but it made me laugh that the policy explicitly excludes any claim related to a rental from "Green Motion" - whose reputation for charging people for damage would make Enterprise (see other thread) look like saints...
As above, if you rent as a us citizen it's expected you cover the entire vehicle cost, not an excess. Theyre saying you need to have cdw which is is included in every quote I've ever seen from a UK website
Is there a insurance co that would cover me for excess insurance both here in NZ, never bothered with it before but got a bit of van hire here and car hire in NZ to cover. Thanks
