Golf needs new rear tyres.
Had Dunlop SportMaxx on since Nov 2016...done about 16k mostly motorway miles and hardly ragged - need replacing as cracking in the treads! Not impressed so not going there again. Had a few pairs of Good Year Efficient Grip Performance which I might go with again...felt like trying Continental Contact Sport 5 a few times but never have...I known I’ve opened a can of worms here but anyone tried these of recommend any others? Cheers
I really rate continental premium contact 5, but I'f you've got silly big wheels with rubber band tyres, you might be limited to sport contact in the continental range.
Uniroyal Rainsport 3 also worth a look.
Goodyear efficient grip are also highly rated though..
Kumho HS51 or Matador MP47...

Had Conti Sports as standard fit on my Kuga which I liked a lot. Fronts lasted 24k, just changed the rears at 36k. When the fronts went I got the budget option from black circles which was a mistake as they were noisey and only lasted 12k.
Just changed all four and having taken advice from a mechanic and rally driver I went for Cooper tyres. Very impressed so far as they perform as well as the continental but at half the price. Got mine from Cam Skills online.
For a combination of decent all weather grip and good mileage then Conti's are my first choice.
For grip I like Michelin Pilot Sports but they don't tend to last long.

Surely the age of the tyre, not the tread left is the benchmark for partial refunds? Our Mazda (11 years old, 56k miles) has to swap tyres around front to back so they get worn down as opposed to crack, otherwise I would be binning part-worn rear tyres due to the low mileage. (Fronts get eaten in around 8-10k!!!!)
Bit of Googling suggests I'm not the first to have experienced this with these tyres.
Got them from Halfrauds...go back to them or get in touch with Dunlop directly (and prob be ignored)? Car having MOT Fri so I'll see what they say first...

On my second full set of these as I like them and aren't silly money. Decent in the wet and wear well too
Another vote for Goodyear Efficienct Grips here. Ran them on my last BM for 5 years and will will be fitting them to my current car when the time comes.
I had Goodyear Efficient Grip on my SMax. The best tyre I tried on that car. I also tried Michelin Primacy 2's (or 3's, can't remember) which drove well but wear rate was shocking, Yokohama's which were grippy as anything in the dry but not quite as sure footed in the wet, and some non-premium branded, but highly rated tyres once when I was short of dosh to replace the tyres which were so bad in comparison I ditched them as soon as I could afford to with more than half the tread left. Went back to Efficient Grips and it was like putting on a familiar pair of slippers. A really good all round tyre.
Never mind about car tyres. When are you going to bring the bling Whyte out for a Wednesday night?

Danny - you're quite right - I have been a right pussyboy of late.
I have a 74 mile sportive a week Sun, so weekends - if I have got out on a bike - have been for road work...and even that's barely anything 🙁
I haven't been on the Whyte since Dec 28 - the longest period I've ever gone without going off road.
I will be out 2 weeks tonight. Promise x

Well, surprisingly the car passed its MOT with the tyres proving to not be a problem after all.
Cracks are so small apparently nothing to be concerned about and they have plenty of tread left, so gonna leave them on.
You can all rest easy now in light of the update 😉
Cracks usually aren't an issue. I fitted Maxxis tyres to my car last time, similar tread to Eagle F1's.
only an issue if your burt munro and going for a land speed record - ......and we know you just crack out the shoe polish
*only really a fail if you can see threads but i would monitor the situation... i had a set of cheapo mud terrains that started to crack and dry out .... and they pretty much got to a point where i was no longer willing to drive on them within about 18 months from new....
