My nine year old diesel Picasso was fitted with a new turbo a couple of weeks ago. It was running fine until this morning when I started it up and it was not happy, idling very badly then as it warmed up large amounts of exhaust smoke. Could it be the turbo again or something else? On the verge of taking the bl@@dy thing down to the scrapyard. 👿
Yep, likely to be either a duff (recon?) turbo, or it was fitted badly (hopefully not by you?!).
Could be well and truely ****ed but to try and offer you a small glimpse of hope what about checking all hoses are present and correct and the EGR is all in order
Talk to who fit the turbo
Well it's the head gasket so that was a grand wasted on a new turbo.
Looking at a Zafira 1.9CDTi later today. I'm getting £500 for the Picasso.
Will have to get used to having two car loans again. (less money for bikes) The Mrs had a new car last week.
Well it's the head gasket
Why don't you get it fixed rather than selling the car? It's a DIY job if you are handy ish with the spanners. Head can be skimmed at an engineering place if required.
What do you mean exhaust smoke?
If it's thick black smoke then it's probably just a pipe somewhere between the turbo>intercooler>engine has a leak/has popped off since the new turbo was fitted, so the engine isn't receiving the amount of air it's expecting.
EDIT - Sorry, just seen your reply.....that's bad news.
'The Mrs' here... 😈
Picasso is well and truly dead...may as well have chucked £1100 on the fire!
New family car being picked up on Friday. 8)

Cheeky ****er...he had an Orange 5 in August last year. He's upgraded just about every component apart from the frame(he's so stupid he thinks I don't notice), and a chuffin' new road bike 2 weeks ago!!!!!! 😈

Busted!
(I bloody hate spending money on cars though, eleven hundred quid for a duff repair, horror! you thought about the small claims court to recover it?)
I was all set for the 1.9 TDCi with alloys and and low profile tyres and then the higher wage eaner (and more sense) comes along and we end up with the 1.6 petrol. 😥
If only everything was as reliable as an Orange Five! 😉
