I need a car roof box to fit a Vauxhall meriva, not looking to spend a fortune as it'll only be used 1-3 times a year.

At the moment i have nothing at all, no bars or anything, so i need the full package.

Recomendations and points in the right direction appreciated.

I got mine from here and bought the thule ranger which can be folded down. They have a car checking site on here

^ They know their [s]onions[/s] roofboxes. Just ring them up.

try Indespension if they have a depot near you; got their own brand roofbox last year for about half the cost of halfords own brand ones

+n for Roofbox. Can't rate them highly enough, competitive pricing and excellent customer service.

Obviously it does but how does it shag your fuel economy and by how much%? Also do you 'feel' it/rev more, sluggish? etc.

I don't notice, but then I'm not particularly paying attention.

I read somewhere a roofbox maker say that they would be more aerodynamic if put on backwards, but no one would believe it!

Fuel economy is better with a box than with bars alone. And it's less noisy with a box.

I bought a Kamei* last year from roofbox. I called up - knowing nothing - and had a very sensible conversation about bars, fittings and boxes. Recommended.

Box will be going back on in a few weeks ready for the annual trek to the south of France. 😀

*v good quality (German, natch). Has central locking and double sided opening.

I'm getting a Kamei for this summer. I've hired them before and they are great. I can't say that I've noticed much difference with the roofbox on compared to off, when then car has 3 kids, 2 dogs and full holiday kits anyway. As for mpg, just stick below 80 and we notice 2-3mpg difference.

Well that was genuinely refreshing, just got off of the phone to roofbox.co.uk, really helpful people and saved £20 over going to Halfords and getting what we were looking at from there. Highly recommended, cheers for the heads up.
