can anyone recommend a good car car polish for my recently acquired white caddy van..? its been stood for 2 years before i bought it and its covered in loads of little black spots, maybe tar or something, not noticable from a distance but easy seen close up...
had a good scrub at it an they only come off with alot of effort, bare in mind the whole van is covered so id like the easiest option lol

Tar comes off easy with a little white spirit on a cloth

Auto Glym do a tar spot remover, it does work.

It also removes Araldite thumprints from your wife's motorbike fuel tank too..... 😳 😳

Another vote for Autoglym tar remover.

It does exactly what it says on the tin 🙂

just begged some autoglym paint restorer off of a painter mate, seems to work well, he thinks its been parked near a foundery or something as it seems to be soot or something baked on, its quite dull browny/yellow white but is coming up nice with the autoglym..
thanx for all your tips btw, certainly gonna keep me busy for an hour in the morning before hamsterley forest calls me away!!

Clay it afterwards and then finish off with a coat or two of a sealant like FK1000P and it will look lovely.

Strip wash

Is that a wash in Traffic film remover?

Anything capable of disolving oil will get rid of tar spots.
I've used petrol, parrafin, Autosmart Tardis, WD40, and white spirits depending on what's been at hand, and they all do it. Some may require a bit more soaking time than others, but nothing a bit elbow grease wouldn't budge.

Just make sure you give it a good wax after, to help prevent new bits getting stuck on.

Petrol on a rag works as a quick remedy if you have it to hand, autoglym also works well. If claying best to clay it after it has all been removed otherwise you'll be going through clay bars in no time with contamination. Couple of coats of polish and some wax to seal, makes cleaning in the future alot easier and keeps its looking shiney 🙂
